Willow Creek Softball Volunteer instructions
Thank you for the generous gift of your time. WCLL is a volunteer run organization and it with the help from people like you that allow our girls the wonderful softball experience they get with Willow Creek. There are several ways you can donate your time and each have different requirements.
Manager / Coach / Assistant Coach
Managers, Coaches, and Assistant Coaches are considered anyone that is on the field during games. They have the primary instructional responsibilities on the team.
Requirements for Managers/ Coaches / Assistant Coaches
Background check – required for anyone who has ANY contact with the players during team activities.
Concussion Certification – Annual requirement for all Managers/Coaches (also an Oregon State Law). Once completed send the certificate of completion to [email protected].
First Aid Certification – a current certification is required for all Manager/Coaches. These certifications expire (typically after 2 years) so the certification should be valid through the end of the season. A valid certificate from employer or community supplied first aid training can be used as well. Once completed send the certificate of completion to [email protected].
Concussion Training
All coaches will take concussion training each year and submit a certificate on the league website along with their volunteer application. Online training is offered by National Federation of State High School Associations (https://nfhslearn.com/courses/61129/concussion-in-sports) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (https://www.cdc.gov/headsup/youthsports/training/index.html).

First Aid Training
Managers and Coaches are required to obtain a First Aid certification. First Aid training will be offered online from National CPR Foundation (https://www.nationalcprfoundation.com/courses/standard-first-aid-3) or on site at CPR Lifeline (9320 SW Barbur Blvd, Suite 175 Portland, OR 97219). You can fill out a reimbursement form (available under Coaches-Resources) to be reimbursed for the cost of this training. Or you can consider this a donation to WCLL.
Team Volunteers
Team Volunteers help out the coaching staff in any way that is needed. This can be through helping at practices or organizing team events.
Team volunteers are NOT on the field during games however can help in the dugout.

Umpires
Umpires officiate during AAA, Majors, and Juniors Division games. There are typically 2 umpires. One is behind home plate and is usually the head umpire during the game. The other is in the field to officiate during on the bases.

Waiver – (Waiver Link) Must be signed (for umpires under 18, a parent/guardian signature is required) and send to [email protected].

***In our continuing effort to make Willow Creek Softball a fun and safe environment, we are implementing an ID badge policy for all Managers/Coaches and league volunteers. Every volunteer must go through a background check before being allowed to have any contact with players during any official team activity. We are now going to identify them with Willow Creek Softball ID badges.
