GIRONDINS USA U19S ARRIVE IN BORDEAUX FRANCE

The Girondins USA U19 squad is in Bordeaux France for ten (10) days of training at the Centre de Formation FC Girondins de Bordeaux. Players and coaches are staying on the complex where the squad trains twice a day with Girondins trainers.  The U19 Feminines coach, Margaux Aime and goalkeeper coach Cecilie Quatredeniers have worked with the Girondins USA U19 players on technique and quick ball movement during the first few sessions.

A second evening of training in the Girondins de Bordeaux complex featured a technique training session with former Bordeaux Technical Director Pierrot Labat.  Having trained many professional footballers throughout his career, the girls welcomed the opportunity to learn from the technique master.Labat had the players focus on perfecting a number of technical skills aimed at improving their ball movement on the pitch.

In addition to the technical training session, Labat emphasized to the Girondins USA players that it’s important for players to work hard and smart. A player with a little talent that works hard will go further than a player with an enormous amount of talent that has a poor work rate.  “These girls need to be more confident and believe in themselves.”

TOURING THE MATMUT ATLANTIQUE STADIUM

Girondins USA U19 squad and staff members received an exclusive tour of the Matmut Atlantique stadium on Wednesday.  Experiencing the excitement of walking through the players tunnel and seeing the history of each jersey number in the First Team dressing room motivated the Girondins USA squad to work harder to achieve their dreams.

Looking at many awards on display in the Trophy Room are memories these players won’t soon forget.

Of course it’s always exciting to experience Girondins de Bordeaux with former player and current Girondins USA cofounder Nisa Saveljic.

While in Bordeaux, the USA squad will focus on preparing to compete in the US Youth Soccer Eastern Regional Championships June 30 – July 3 in Spotsylvania, Virginia.  The winner will represent the Eastern Region in the US Youth Soccer National Championships in Frisco, Texas July 23 – 29.
