GIRONDINS USA U15S WIN SAC INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT

Girondins USA U15s win SAC Invitational tournament over Memorial Day weekend.  Memorial Day weekend was full of soccer for the Girondins USA club this year.  Both the U15 and U13 squads competed in a local Maryland tournament.

First of two matches on Saturday saw the U15 squad down by two goals at the half.  Players came out strong in the second half and rallied to earn a 2-2 draw against a physical team from Virginia. Both goal were scored by midfielder Ava Checkan.

In the second match of the day, Girondins USA U15s faced a local Maryland team.  With only a few hours rest from the morning competition, the Girondins USA ladies motivated to play one of their best matches of the weekend.  Solid passing led to a 3-1 victory.  Goals were scored by midfielders Ava Checkan, Seneca Gonzales and Natalie Price.

During the second day of the SAC Columbia Invitational tournament, these U15 ladies took the pitch for an afternoon match against a team from New Jersey.  Play was fast, and the Girondins USA squad came out strong. Midfielders Emily Pangaro and Natalie Price combined to score three (3) goals leading the Girondins USA U15 squad to a 3-0 shutout.


The shutout victory earned the Girondins USA U15 squad first place in their U15 Elite bracket and a shot at the championship match on Monday.

GIRONDINS USA U15 SQUAD ADVANCES TO SAC COLUMBIA INVITATIONAL SEMI-FINAL MATCH

After three matches in two days, the Girondins USA U15s were on the pitch for an early 8am semi-final match on Monday morning.  The players took on another bracket winner team from New Jersey.  Midfielder Ava Checkan came up big once again with two goals, leading the team to a 2-1 victory and the championship match that afternoon.

The two top teams, both from Maryland, stepped on the pitch for a 1:45pm championship match. Both keepers were fantastic in goal and saved many shots by the end of the first half. Going into the half, Girondins USA had a 1-0 lead.

Baltimore Celtic, the opposing team came out strong in the second half trying to even up the score.  The Girondins USA ladies were a tough force and worked together to maintain their lead and win the championship match.  Goalkeeper Katie Gray was unstoppable in goal allowing only 4 goals across five (5) matches during the entire tournament.
