Mission Statement

We are not just the new football team in town but rather a new team that is looking to change
the way youth football is done not only in Elmhurst but everywhere.

What makes us different?

1. Coaching

The Elmhurst Bears will implement top tier coaching at every level. We will utilize resources and coaching offered through a local high school program. We will pair those resources with youth football coaches from the area with over 30 years of youth coaching experience. Together they will form our coaching staff which brings knowledge, experience and time tested resources such as: game plans, practice plans, conditioning and nutritional plans. The Bears also have current ESPN analyst and former NFL Safety Matt Bowen in place as a coaching adviser for the entire program.

Gone are the days of unqualified coaches with their best interest laying SOLELY with their own child or one team in the program. Parents can coach but they will be held to specific coaching standards and ethics set forth by the Elmhurst Bears board.  They will need to follow the program guidelines which are set to ensure every child is afforded the same opportunities to develop.

The Elmhurst Bears will develop each child that steps on the field without favoritism. Our board will manage the day to day operations of the Bears program. They will not be a part of the on field football operations. That will be left to the experts, the coaches, and our coaching adviser(s).  Our coaches will follow a strict protocol that ensures every child is awarded the same opportunities to develop.

The Bears coaches will work to develop our players but they will also eventually help to develop our parent volunteer coaches.  This program wide continuity will ultimately develop players through a consistent message to our players from the day they enter the program to the day they leave which we hope is after their 8th grade season. The Bears will be one team with one message and one goal; DEVELOP KIDS while ensuring their experience is enjoyable and rewarding.

2. Player Safety

There is nothing we take more seriously than player safety. We are investing in the top of the line Riddell equipment (Speed Flex helmet, should pads, game pants) most importantly we are investing in a technology in our players helmets that will help detect potentially dangerous blows to the head. See the technology in action:

This cutting edge technology is currently only being implemented in two other youth programs in Illinois because of the steep cost and intensive training associated with the ITT program. Along with the ITT technology and best in class equipment every Bears coach will need to go through rigorous training courses designed by Riddell  and USA Football. All Bears coaches will also take part in professional coaching clinics prior to the start of the 2019 season that will emphasize teaching techniques to ensure player safety.

3. Partnerships

Outside of the partnership with our local High School program we also have support from Chicago Bears and the NFL Players Association (Retirees) which will offer coaching and development support. Several local businesses have already stepped up seeking ways to help the program, Pop Warner Scholarship Award, Glazier Coaching Clinics etc. Our goal is to build a great program for our community for 2019 and beyond. Please email us if you are interested in sponsoring or partnering with the Elmhurst Bears.

4. Economical Entry Fee

Plain & simple, football shouldn't be expensive, and we are committed to offering a low cost to join and play the sport our kids love.  Strategic partnerships with national and local businesses in our community will help deliver this outcome. Our current price of $299 is all inclusive for the 2019 season, NO HIDDEN OR ADDED COSTS.

5. Education First

The Elmhurst Bears and Pop Warner WILL put Academics 1st. Pop Warner ensures every player that wears their shield maintains a high standard in the class room as well as on the field. Pop Warner is the only youth football program locally that requires academic standards to be met to play and rewards those who go above and beyond in the classroom.

The Bears will have a designated Academic Chair as a part of their board ensuring standards are met and those who exceed are rewarded!! Report cards get checked at every level and academic award are earned regardless of football talent, locally, regionally. A leading goal of our program is to have every player that wears our uniform be recognized for their academic achievements at the regional Pop Warner Little Scholars Awards Banquet.

The Elmhurst Bears will provide an outlet for more kids to play football in a safe, fun, challenging environment where they can learn the game from our area’s brightest coaches. The Bears have an iron clad mission, driven by talented individuals who are laser focused and committed to every child’s success and development. WE ARE ALL IN and we look forward to you joining us in our mission.

UNLESS someone like you
cares a whole awful lot,
nothing is going to get better.
It’s not.
