The Select and Classic soccer program provides Academy and Recreational players with the opportunity to advance to a more competitive level of play. While individual player development is still very important at this level, the focus for this age group is working into positions and developing tactical and team play. Training and practices continue to emphasize individual skills while incorporating more tactical decision-making and problem solving. This level of play is more results driven whereby team standings are recorded.
All players must tryout to participate on these teams. If a player has been offered and accepted membership to a team, the commitment is for one year beginning with the fall season. It concludes at the end of the spring season. Players will not be released to play with another club, and no refunds are provided.
Ages
Waxhaw Soccer Club offers Classic levels of play for players 9 years old up to 18 years old.
Practices & Games
Classic teams will generally have two practices per week. Each practice will last between one to two hours.
Games will be played on Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons in a competitive format.
Classic games are scheduled through the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association (NCYSA). Travel will be mostly within the Piedmont and Western North Carolina areas.
Each team will participate in at least two tournaments per year. If the team chooses to participate in additional tournaments, those will be covered at the parent's expense.
Practices will be held at either H.C. Nesbit Park or Western Union Elementary School, depending on field availability.
