Cheer FAQ's

 Q. What does the time commitment look like?

Sideline teams start practice 3-4 days a week in Aug until school starts. Practice times/days vary by coach and team level (younger less older more) but always practices start no early than 5:30pm and end by 7:30/7:45pm

Sideline season goes until the last post season Football game is played. This includes any championships/bowl games and CAN (not required but encouraged) into early November. Traditional sideline season ends at 10/29.

Competition teams practice 4 days a week in the evening like sideline and start competitions at the end of October. Competition Season ends with the State Championship at the end of January.

Cheer technically can go year round for special performances and continued education in conditioning, stunting, tumbling etc. performances and time requirement during “off season” limited to a day a week. Pending any special appearances.

 Q. What is included in our fees?

Our registration cost covers the Shell, Skirt, Bodyliner, Briefs, 2 Bows (gameday and pink), Socks and Backpack. These items are kept at end of season.

 Q. What is not included and/or needed?

Pom Poms are kept by the coach and not an item kept by athletes this helps keep our costs lower.

Completely white cheer shoes are needed. For competition teams these MUST be cheer shoes not athletic sneakers. Discount price sites are available for low cost cheer shoes.

Warm ups are NOT included. We do fundraise for them. The Raffle fundraiser helps cover part of that and depending on warm up costs may require an additional out of pocket or car wash/small fundraiser for difference. We aim to have all warm up expenses funded through fundraising.

Travel costs and competition fees. These can be fundraised for pending fundraiser approval and success.

 Q. How safe is cheer?

Cheerleading by nature is a dangerous sport. There is tumbling and stunting on people. Common injuries are sprains, strains and tears as well as concussions. Worst case scenario broken bones and paralysis. These situations are extremely rare but should be considered. All of our coaches are CPR/First Aid certified, YCADA Stunt Certified, and many hold multiple Certifications for various cheer organizations like WSCCA, UCA and WIAA. We use drills and technique training prior to any athlete leaving the ground and use a slow and steady approach.

 Q. Where are competitions?

Competitions are held at various High Schools across the State. With the State Championship being held in Tacoma, WA. Most all of competitions are on the east side of State but can be on west side.

 Q. My athlete won’t be competing is there an end of year performance or showcase?

YES!! All of our teams will go and showcase/compete or perform at Cheerpalooza this year being held in Spokane and is at the end of October. We will try to do a parent showcase prior to that event for those family, friends and fans that cannot travel to Spokane. Subject to location availability.
