Thunder Academy or Thunder Baseball League tryouts.

Tryouts can be an overwhelming time in your child’s life (and yours, too!), especially as kids grow older and the game gets more competitive. Landing a spot on the team of your choice means that you must know what the team is looking for. The good news is that usually, most baseball teams are looking for positive, confident and athletic players to join their team.
Thunder Academy will be providing a pre-Tryout Clinic to help players prepare for Tryouts. There is a nominal fee of $20 to participate and pre-registration is required online. Walk ups are accepted, however, they still must register and pay online to participate in the clinic.

Practice and preparation go a long way in making your child feel confident and in control during tryouts. For two weeks prior to the tryout, spend time practicing skills like throwing, hitting and fielding. Have your child get dressed in the appropriate gear – baseball pants, jersey, cleats – so that you know everything fits and is comfortable!

Who is eligible?
Youth baseball players who are between the ages of 8-14 (as of April 30, 2020) can register to participate in the Thunder Academy Tryout Camp on July 24, 2019 and/or August 7, 2019.
What is involved?
Position players will be evaluated based on Speed (40 or 60-yard sprint), throwing, defense and hitting. Pitchers may be evaluated by throwing bullpen. Other drills or live game situations as time permits. The session will run approximately two hours.
Why should I have my player attend?
Thunder Academy Tryout Camp is the best way to ensure players are prepared for Thunder Academy Tryouts July 27-28, 2019 or Thunder Baseball League Tryouts August 10-11, 2019 for spring 2020 teams. This will provide insight to the process, help build confidence, and is a good opportunity to showcase your player.
Who will be evaluating the players?
Players will be informally evaluated by the Thunder Baseball Academy staff. Feedback with Thunder Baseball Academy coaches will be discussed with players after the clinic. Darron Cox will be available after the clinic.
What is the cost?
Players must register individually for this event. Online registration is now open at www.Thunder-Baseball.org (click on the big red REGISTER NOW button) and the fee for a Thunder Academy Tryout Camp is $20 per participant.
Is this a Tryout for Thunder Academy teams?
No, this is not a Tryout for Thunder Academy. This clinic is designed to help new and experienced players the fundamentals of showing well at tryouts. However, if you are not able to make the Thunder Academy Tryouts on July 27-28 or the 31st, please let the registrar know at check-in that you have registered for the Academy Tryouts in addition to the clinic. Darron Cox will be notified and your player will be considered for an Academy team for 2020. Your $20 will be credited to your account if you make an Academy team.
What is the refund policy?
A full refund, less a $10 administration fee, will be granted if registration is cancelled at least 48 hours prior to clinic date. Any cancellations within 48 hours of the clinic will not receive a refund.
