FALL SPORTS

Cheerleading Grades 3 to 8. Practice is one day a week after school (3pm) in the SFA gym with cheer at Saturday SFA football games. Very fun for the kids! Runs September through November.

Cross Country  Coed 1st to 8th grade** Practice is MWF each week (6pm) meeting at different locations to include Rose Tree Park. Meets are on Sundays at 1pm at Fairmont Park in Philadelphia. Runs September to November. ** Some kindergartners may be eligible if they are old for their grade) Coach Rob Duffy (moderator)

Field Hockey  Girls grades 5 to 8 ** Practice is two or three days a week at Memorial Field (345pm) with games during the week at the same times. **The team was only 6 to 8th grade based on numbers last year. This could be the case again this year. CYO rules don’t allow 5th graders to compete with 6 to 8th in games.  Runs  September to November Coach Jenn Lennon , Moderator Donna Ferrialo

Flag Football  Coed grades 3 to 4.  Practice two or three nights (545p) a week at Church Rd with Saturday morning games. This is a really fun and well coached league for kids who want to be introduced to football. Runs from Late August through November. Coach Matt Wechter

Football, Boys (AOP rule) 5/6 and 7/8 grades. Practices tend to be three nights a week at Church Rd with Saturday games. Runs from mid/late August through November. Coach Bob Matty and Coach Ryan Donnelly. Moderator Andy Kutufaris and Asst. Moderator Mike Reardon

Soccer (Reigning Champs)  Coed 5/6 and 7/8 grade. Practice is at Crowell Field (times TBD) with games at Church Rd during the week and weekends. This is a very fun but also very competitive. The coaches are very flexible with their players schedules. Runs September to November. Coach Paul Ellis and Coach Brian Coleman (Moderator)

Volleyball, Girls 5/6 and 7/8. This is a competitive, fun, and successful team run by great and enthusiastic coaches. Practice is in the gym (TBD) with matches during the week and on weekends. Runs September to November. Coach Kim Gotto and Coach Allison Clark,  Moderator Kate Doherty.


WINTER SPORTS

SFA CYO offers several levels of basketball for grades 1-12.

Intramural Basketball Grades 1-2 (co-ed) and 3-4:
On Saturday afternoons from December through February we offer intramural basketball for 1-4th grades. Grades 1-2 (co-ed) get to participate in some fun drills each Saturday and conclude the session with a short game between the kids. The 3-4th graders participate in a clinic at the beginning of their session and also play a full-court game. The season end in February with a league pizza party!

5-6th Grade Basketball (Competitive)
SFA CYO offers Championship caliber Boys and Girls JV Basketball at the A and B league (developmental) levels. Athletes must attend tryouts and will them be assigned to an A or B team. Cuts are at the discretion of the coach based on the number of athletes trying out and available gym time. Practice and game schedules vary.

7-8th Grade Basketball (Competitive)

9-12th Grade High School Basketball (Competitive)

SPRING SPORTS

**Please remember that all programs are based on registration numbers so should the numbers not warrant a program we must cancel that programs season**

Boys and Girls Track 3-8th Grade (2012 DOB Required for 3rd graders): The 2019 Boys Penn Relay and Philadelphia Archdiocese Championship track team is once again coached by the Mark Winter and the very successful girls team is coached by 3rd year head coach Betsy Duffy! Practices are during the week with meets on the weekends. Practice and meet locations should be held at the new Springfield high school track. 

Varsity Baseball (7-8th): The very successful Varsity team is led by longtime Head Coach Len Cianngelini. The team is looking to make another run at the Archdiocese Championship. SFA plays their home games at North Avenue field (when available) and Cardinal O'Hara Field. Practices and games are weekdays immediately after school (between 3:30 and 5:30). (Tryouts based on number of players)

JV Baseball (5-6th): The JV team is coached by Brian Coleman, Coach "Stan", and Matt Debernardi. The team is hoping to compete for another Region Championship. The team plays at Old Netherwood Field. (46-60 format) Practices and games are weekdays after school (between 3:30 and 5:30). (Tryouts and player selections are based on number of players)

** Girls Softball (5-8th): This would be the second season for the girls softball team. The team had a successful debut season in 2019 and we are exploring having a team this year. Practices and games are during the week immediately after school in Colonial Park - Elson Glen Park (between 3:30 and 5:30).

Tennis (1-8th) (Club Sport) Practices are held at Memorial field during the week and has a tremendous turn out each season!! The kids really have a good time in a very relaxing and fun environment.

HS Co-Ed Volleyball will be led by Coach Medici (Varsity) and Coach Clark (JV). The team has been very successful and the players have a great time. Volleyball practices and games are indoors (SFA Gym). Intramural Tennis (5-8th Grade) is back with HC McNichol at the helm.
