2020 WESTWOOD YOUTH SOFTBALL SPRING SOFTBALL
Registration will open in November and will close December 31st.
Grades Kindergarten, 1 & 2, 2019 Spring Softball Season
The season starts in April and ends in June.
We are planning the following for scheduling:
Girls will play once or twice a week on: Mondays and Wednesdays or some Fridays at Deerfield.
Time: 5:30-7:00
Grades 3, 4 & 5 Spring Softball Season
• The season will go April - June in the Norfolk County Softball League (NCSL). The format is similar to most national softball leagues,
the play is a bit more competitive and the games are a lot closer.
• Grades 3, 4 and 5 will play in teams together and games are played in Dedham, Norwood, Walpole and Westwood.
• Games start at 6:00 (warm ups at 5:30) Games are played Twice a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and some Fridays.
• Practice dates and times will be set by each teams coach, but are usually on the weekend.
Grades 6, 7 & 8 Spring Softball Season

• Grades 6, 7 & 8 will play in teams together and games are played in Dedham, Neeham, Norwood, Walpole and Westwood.
• Games start at 6:00 (warm ups at 5:30) Games are played twice a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and some Fridays.
• Practice dates and times will be set by each teams coach, but are usually on the weekend.
SUMMER SOFTBALL
Grades 3, 4 & 5 Norfolk County Softball League
• The season will be end of June to the end of July in the Norfolk County Softball League (NCSL).
• No games the week of July 4th.
• This is the same recreational league we played in during the Spring.
• Grades 3 through 5 will play in a team together and games are played in Norwood, Walpole and Westwood.
• Games start at 6:00 (warm ups at 5:30). Games are played twice a week on Monday and Wednesdays, with the understanding that some may miss an occasional game as necessary given busy summer schedules.
U10 (10 and under) Hockomock Girls Summer League
• 11 inch ball and 35 feet pitching distance
• 6 inning games
• No metal cleats allowed
• Facemasks are required
• 4 run limit per inning rule/ waived in the 6th or last inning
• Run ahead rule is 12 after 5th inning completed
• 10 fielders with 4 outfielders, each of whom must play at least 25 feet off the baseline
• No slashing (faking a bunt, then hitting away)
• Slap hitting and drag bunting are allowed
• No infield fly rule
• No dropped 3rd strike
• No "continuation." Batter may only take one base when awarded a base on balls.
• Stealing home and advancing multiple bases on a steal attempt are not allowed
• No new inning to start after 7:45 PM
• 11 inch ball and 35 feet pitching distance
U12 (12 and under) Hockomock Girls Summer League
• 12 inch ball and 40 feet pitching distance
• 7 inning games
• No metal cleats allowed
• Facemasks are required for pitcher, 1st and 3rd base players
• 5 run limit rule per inning/ waived in the 7th or last inning
• Run ahead rule is 12 after 5th inning completed
• Slashing is NOT allowed (faking a bunt, then hitting away)
• Slap hitting and drag bunting are allowed
• Infield fly rule in effect
• No new inning to start after 7:45 PM
U14 (14 and under) Hockomock Girls Summer League
• 12 inch ball and 43 feet pitching distance
• 7 inning games
• No metal cleats allowed
• Facemasks are required for pitcher, 1st and 3rd base players
• 5 run limit rule per inning/ waived in the 7th or last inning
• Run ahead rule is 12 after 5th inning completed
• Slashing is NOT allowed (faking a bunt, then hitting away)
• Slap hitting and drag bunting are allowed
• Infield fly rule in effect
• No new inning to start after 7:45 p.m. for 6 p.m. games or 9:45 p.m. for 8 p.m. games
FALL SOFTBALL
We field teams for age groups U10, U12, U14 and U18
• The season starts the start of September and October with the Charles River Softball League.
• The Charles River Girls Softball League includes other nearby towns such as Dorchester, Holliston, Medfield, Natick, Needham, Newton, Parkway, Wayland, Waltham, Watertown and Weston.
• Games are played on Sundays. Double-headers with Game 1 beginning at 9:00am, 2nd game should begin by 11:00am.
• There are no practices due to league rules.
• Girls will also need a batting helmet with face protection, a fielding mask and a fielding glove (large enough to fit a 11inch softball) Batting gloves are optional.
