After ROOTS-U8 travel team

My child is now old enough to tryout for a U8 travel team (2016 birth year) and older--what exactly does that mean?

Tryouts for the travel teams start as early as March throughout the state of NJ. We have given you a break down of the U8 travel team at Cedar Stars Academy(CSA) Monmouth.

Tryouts are needed for a spot on one of the travel teams in the age group. CSA may have one, two or three teams in each age group, depending on the number of players who register to play with CSA. Your child would need to attend at least one tryout to confirm that you are interested. Tryouts are free and are a good experience for the players.

The U8 age group is divided into teams based on skill level. The exact teams are established no later than the end of the summer and prior to the start of the fall season. One of the advantages of playing at CSA is that players move from team to team as they develop. These player movements may be made during the season or after the season. Where a player starts in the fall 2023 is not necessarily where he will finish in the spring 2024

Financially:

There is a deposit due upon accepting a spot on the team. Payment plans are available for all participants and these payments are usually spread over 6-8 months. See details below

2016 Age Group Breakdown

Practices: 2 per week @ The Capelli Sport Complex in Tinton Falls. Practices begin around mid August. Fall practices and games end mid November. Winter practices are 1 per week from Jan-Feb. inside the new Capelli Sport Indoor Field. Spring practices begin in March and end early June.

Games: 7v7 league play in the fall and spring. Times vary based on field availability and the away teams field availability.

Tournaments: 1 tournament in the spring

Player Cost: $1650/year includes falls/winter and spring Monthly payments plans are available.
