Bradford Youth Football (BYF) is a program founded in 2005 by a group of parents interested in having their children learn the skills and discipline of football. Since then the program has expanded so that we now offer Flag Football for grades K-3, Tackle football competition for grades 4th, 5th, & 6th and grades 7th & 8th on their own respective teams. Nearly 80 young boys and girls from Bradford and surrounding communities receive equipment and uniforms through sponsorship and support of community businesses and friends. They compete against neighboring communities and within the area leagues. As BYF grows, so does its aspirations and commitments. The safety of the young people is a primary concern, so can we provide a secure competitive environment with qualified referees and emergency medical personnel in attendance. Our football coaches are trained, certified and continuously under review to ensure this introduction to the world of football is a safe and positive experience. We focus on providing knowledge and discipline to young people who can carry their experiences into adult life. Over the past couple of years, we have added an Athlete Safety Coach who has been trained properly through USA Football in the “Heads Up” Program.
The Bulldogs are part of the Northern Vermont Youth Football League (NVYFL) and benefit from the experience of a 15-year-old organization. Commitment and expectations extend to the parents of our Athletes. Football is a team sport and, as such, the Athletes and their parents are a part of the team by making a commitment to have their “Bulldog” at the regularly scheduled practices, games and events constantly and on time.
