Greetings!

Welcome to St. Mary’s County Youth Organization (SMCYO), formerly SMCTBYO. We are a co-ed nonprofit organization, that has served our community for over 30 years. We provide young (ages 4 to 7 as of April 1st) and beginning players the opportunity to safely participate in a team sport while learning the basics of the game in a supportive environment.

SMCYO covers the majority of St. Mary’s county. We have two divisions, the north and the south.  The Northern Division currently plays at Lettie Dent, White Marsh, Mechanicsville, Dynard, and Banneker Elementary schools, as well as Margaret Brent Middle School. We also use 7th District, St. Clements Shores and Laurel Grove
(aka Bagget) Parks.  The Southern Division currently plays at Carver, Green Holly, and Evergreen Elementary schools.  Additionally we use Leonardtown Middle school and sometimes Carver Rec Center.

Online registration will open October 15th and run through February 15th. (This may be delayed due to Covid-19) Walk in times and locations are TBD.  Player fees this season will be $65 for the first participant, $110 for two and $140 for three or more.  Players must be part of the same immediate family and reside at the same address to receive the discount.

Players only need to provide their own glove and either tennis shoes or RUBBER cleats, NO METAL CLEATS. Parents are welcome to purchase their own bats or helmets, however SMCYO will not be responsible for any damage to personal equipment. We recommend that you label your players equipment with their name. SMCYO will provide each player with a team shirt and hat. Coaches will be issued all other necessary equipment. (i.e. bats and helmets).

Practices typically begin in mid March and continues through the second week of April. Games will start in April. Practices and games will be on Monday’s and Wednesday’s starting at 6pm. Games will be played to 4 innings or a 1-and-a-half-hour time limit or dusk, whichever comes first. Teams will play 3 outs or 5 runs per inning. Teams will play a schedule of about 12 games (weather permitting). Select Players will be chosen by their coaches for the All-Star Game, held near the end of the season.

Registration will take place at the following locations, dates and times:

Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department
Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department

Typically the last Saturday in January and the first two Saturdays in February
