YOUTH COACH- DEMO

Youth Volunteer Demo Coach Opportunity
We are looking for youth volunteers to serve as Demo Coaches. Volunteer hours can be signed off for school, college, or community service requirements.
Requirements:
✔ Must obtain a CPR Card
✔ Must complete YCADA Certification
✔ Must attend JAMZ Camp
✔ Volunteers are responsible for the cost of required classes and certifications
✔ City of Vista scholarships are available (up to age 25)
This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on coaching experience, earn verified volunteer hours, and give back to the community.

FLAG FOOTBALL AGES 5-7 YEARS OLD

🏈 What Is Flag Football?

Flag football is a fun, fast-paced, non-contact version of American football designed for kids. Instead of tackling players to the ground like in tackle football, players wear a belt with flags attached, and the defensive team stops the play by pulling a flag off the ball-carrier.
Here’s how it works:
No Contact: There’s no tackling or hard hits — pulling the flag replaces tackling.
Team Sport: Like traditional football, teams work together to move the ball down the field and score a touchdown by crossing into the end zone.
Fun & Safe: Since there’s no contact, flag football is safer for young players and a great way to learn the basics of football.
Skills Played: Kids learn throwing, catching, running, teamwork, sportsmanship, and the basic concepts of football in a fun environment

Competition Division

JR tiny mite, MM Cheer, Jr Pee Wee, Pee Wee, Jr Varsity, Varsity Cheer–Registration + Gym Fees 

Registration includes:

  • 2 packs of bows (Game bow, Pink Bow)
  • shirt and shorts
  • Teams will cheer at home and away games
  • Local competitions are in San Diego. If they place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, they advance to Regional in Anaheim, CA. If they place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd they advance to Nationals, FL
  • Jamz & Jamz Nationals Las Vegas, NV (Extra cost) or HI
  • Practice typically 3-4 times per week for 2-2.5 hours (Vista Magnet Middle School & Vista High School & Mission Vista High School)

We wear Black Cheer Shoes are $65-$120.00, and Jamz Camp costs an extra $70. 00 Las Vegas $150.00. Payment plans available

2026 Vista Pop Warner Football

🏈 What Is Vista Pop Warner Tackle Football?

Tackle football in Vista Pop Warner is a youth, volunteer-run football program for kids ages 7 to 14 that provides organized, competitive play with protective equipment and structured coaching.

🧒 Age Divisions

8U – Ages 7 & 8
10U – Ages 8–10
12U – Ages 11–12
14U – Ages 13–14
Players are placed in divisions based on age and sometimes weight to make games fair and safe.

📅 Season Structure

The full tackle football season generally runs from mid-July through December.
Teams play regular-season games (usually 8–10 games).
Some divisions may also participate in post-season bowl or playoff games.

🏫 Home Field & Practices

Practices and games are usually held at Vista Magnet Middle School practice fields.

🛡️ Safety & Development Focus

Safety is a core priority for Vista Pop Warner tackle football. The program follows procedures and standards designed to reduce risk while teaching game fundamentals and teamwork.

✅ Certified Coaching

All football coaches are required to complete USA Football Youth Coach Certification, which includes training in:
Proper blocking and tackling techniques
Health and safety best practices
Concussion awareness and prevention
Age-appropriate practice planning

✅ Equipment & Protection

Players are provided or required to use properly fitted safety equipment, including:
Helmet (often supplied or available for purchase)
Shoulder pads
Mouthguard
Game jerseys and other protective padding
Your registration fees typically help cover insurance and equipment use.

✅ Age & Weight Matching

Pop Warner uses a strict age and weight matrix — one of the unique safety measures that helps ensure kids compete against opponents of similar size, which reduces mismatches and minimizes risk in games.

✅ Tailored Fundamentals

Training at the youth level emphasizes learning the fundamentals of positions, teamwork, proper tackling form, and safe playing habits. Creating a solid foundation not only helps reduce injuries but also improves confidence and skill

Seven-on-seven football is a version of football that emphasizes passing and route running. There are no pads in 7-on-7 football because there’s no tackling. Seven-on-seven football is the ultimate off-season training experience for skill-position players.
