South Lake Eagles Refuse to Lose

South Lake Pop Warner Football

Youth Football and Cheer serving the SLHS district. We are the only Division 2 football association in Lake County. We play more competitive games than any other youth football program in Lake County. Our players are taught proper fundamentals that are taught by USA Football. All coaches go through yearly training to be sure all players are properly taught the game of football. Not only are players taught football but life lessons as well. Pop Warner stresses scholastics above on field performance. Grades are turned in before the season. Any player who is below average is monitored throughout the season. If extra help is needed there are always volunteers willing to assist the kids.

Practice begins each year on August 1st. 10 hours of conditioning in helmets only is required before full pads are to be worn. After the 10 hours another period of full pads conditioning is in place to allow players to get comfortable in their equipment. All practice is regulated by Pop Warner on the amount of contact and type of contact allowed. Safety is first and foremost. Each summer volunteers from the community put on free camps for the kids. There is no charge for these camps. They are open to anyone in the community. This allows kids to be active over the summer prior to activities beginning.

Practices are held at Gray Middle School in Groveland. Games are played at SLHS in Groveland. Practices are typically Monday-Thursday at 6pm depending on weather. Games are on Saturdays. Times vary depending on age. Each game last approximately 1.5 hours. Practice schedules will vary.

Parents are needed to volunteer a couple times a season to work in the concession stand. Scheduled times are for the game prior to your child's game. This is done so no one misses their child play. All players are required to report 1.5 hours prior to game time for weigh ins and warmups.

Each season typically consists of a jamboree in the beginning of the season and 8 games for the regular season. Mite Mites, JPW, PW, JV, UNL teams all can qualify for post season playoffs depending on the teams record. Each team advances on their own. Playoff games can be in different locations. All regular season games are played together as an association at the same park. Unless extenuating circumstances.
Tiny Mites DO NOT play any post season games.

Registration is $235 per player. Cheer costs vary. See cheer coordinator for details. With the $235 each player receives 3 discount cards. These cards can be sold for $10 each. Each player keeps the $30 if you sell all 3 cards. This allows parents to recoup that part of registration money which then means registration is only $205. The cards are a fundraiser for the league. Players also receive a game jersey they keep after the season. If registered by May 1st jerseys have players last names. If registered after deadline there is no name on the jersey. Also with registration the player receives rental equipment that must returned at the end of the season. Helmet, Shoulder pads, 7 piece pads, girdle. 1 mouth piece, game pants. Players have to provide practice pants and jersey. Game pants and jersey cannot be worn to practice. Also included in the registration the players are guaranteed a minimum number of plays each game. Every player is required to play each game a predetermined amount of plays based the number of players on each team.

South Lake Pop Warner is always looking for new players and volunteers. Reach out to any board member for details on becoming involved.
