UNIFORMS AND TEAM STRUCTUE

UNIFORMS
Each team must wear their uniform of the same color, provided by the TC United Adult League. Goal Keepers must wear a distinct jersey or color pinnie over their team jersey. Shin guards must be worn under the socks at all times during play. No toe cleats will be allowed on the field. For the Safety of all players and officials, no jewelry (necklaces, rings, piercings, earrings, bracelets, soft wristbands, etc.) is permitted to be worn on the field. Exceptions can be made for medical identification pieces, but must be approved by the game-time referee.
TEAM STRUCTURE
Every team must designate a Team Captain. This person will serve as the point of contact with the Adult League. In addition the team captain should be the only player on the field that interacts with referees.

Each team shall field 8 players on the field at one time (no more than 6 may be male). Adult League rules allow for a team to play a legal game shorthanded with as few as 6 players, with at least 1 female. If a team has one female the team can consist of no more than six players - five males and one female

Teams may have as many as 14 players on their roster. All rosters must be finalized by the fourth week of the season. There are no restrictions to the maximum number of females on a team or on the field.

GAME AND FIELD STRUCTURE

CHECK IN
Teams must check in with a league representative 15 minutes prior to their designated start time. The league official must verify all rosters before teams will be eligible to play.
BENCHES AND SPECTATORS
Team benches shall be placed on the south side of the playing field. Spectators shall be placed on the north side of the playing field. Spectators are not permitted in the bench area or on the field at anytime during the game. The home team bench will be on the west side of the center line, while the away team will be on the east side of the center line.
GAME CLOCK
Games consist of two 25 minute halves with a running clock. The game clock begins right at the designated playing time, without exception, weather permitting. Teams will have until 10 minutes past the designated start time to field a legal team. The clock will have started at the original start time.

Shorthanded teams may play a legal game with the minimum players as described above. Exception: Teams may play a legal game with less than the required minimums with the opposing teams consent.

The clock will only stop during serious injuries. No time outs will be permitted. If a team cannot field a legal team by 10 minutes past the designated start time, the team must forfeit. There is no additional play time added for tie scores, and sudden death will not be used. A tie score will be recorded as a tie game.

SHORTHANDED TEAMS
Teams may pick up non-roster registered players in order to field a full team. However, all non-roster players must be verified as eligible to play for another team at check in. In order to be eligible the player MUST have a registration form on file with the league and have paid their registration fees.
SUBSTITIONS
Teams may substitute “on the fly.” All substitutions must occur within the designated team bench area as marked. There is no limit on the amount of substitutions per team per game. NOTE – in order to substitute a player, the original player must be off the field before the new player enters the field of play. Any violation of this rule will result in a two-minute penalty where the violating team must play a man down.

Goal keepers can NOT be substituted “on the fly.” Goal keepers may only be substituted during a natural stoppage in the game or during half time.

FORFEITS
If a team can not field a legal team by 10 minutes past the designated start time, the team must forfeit.

If you know in advance that your team is going to forfeit a game, you must email TC United staff ([email protected]) 24 hours prior to your team’s designated start time so as to help us schedule your opponent a game. This does not mean that your team will not receive the loss as a forfeit

REFEREES

GAME OFFICIALS
The TC United Adult League provides two well-educated and certified officials. All referee fees are paid for by the league, and are included with the cost of registration.
RULE INFRACTIONS
TC United fully stands behind any and all decisions made by league referees. Referees will have final say in any judgment call or issue regarding rules. Referees have the power to remove any player(s) from a game, if deemed necessary.
YELLOW CARDS
If a player receives a Yellow Card, that player must sit out for five minutes (the team will then play a man down for the 5 minutes).
RED CARDS
If a player receives a red card (or two yellow cards at any point in the season) they must sit out the rest of the game and the next scheduled game (you will play a player short the remainder of that game). Any additional red cards during the season will result in ejection for the remainder of the season for the player. Players ejected for the season will not be issued a refund.

A league representative will contact an offending player anytime a red card is issued in a game.

DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS
Verbal abuse towards the referees will not be tolerated, and will result in your immediate dismissal from the game. Vulgar language during games on and off the field will not be permitted by anyone including, players, officials, and spectators. Any use of vulgar language will result in an immediate yellow card – no exceptions. A second violation will be treated as a second yellow card resulting in a red card and immediate removal from the field. Fighting is not allowed and will NOT be tolerated. All parties involved in fighting will be subject to ejection from the game at the referees’ discretion and subject to ejection from the league at the TC United Adult League staff's discretion.

RULES OF PLAY

BASIC GAME PLAY RULES
All FIFA rules apply, except as specifically modified by these rules.
MODIFIED RULES
  • The beginning of the game will start with the visiting team kicking off. The home team elects which goal to defend.
  • Penalties incurred inside of the goal box by the defense will result in a penalty kick 12 paces/yards out. Penalties incurred outside but within close proximity to the goal box will be kicked from the point of infraction. The defense must stand 5 paces/yards away from the point of infractions (where the ball is being kicked from).
  • Slide-Tackling will not be allowed. Also no high kicks, bicycle kicks or overly aggressive play is permitted. If a player goes down to one knee for a ball it may not always be considered a slide tackle. It depends on the situations and will be a discretion call by the official. Intentional slide tackles will result in a yellow card to the offending player and a direct kick being awarded to the opposing team at the point of the infraction. Multiple violations will result in a red card and immediate ejection from the game.
  • Playing from the ground will not be permitted and will result in a direct free kick for the opposing team.

WEATHER AND CANCELLATIONS

Games may be cancelled due to extreme weather conditions, dangerous or unplayable surface conditions, facility constraints, etc. The league makes every effort to play all scheduled games, thus we will not cancel games until absolutely necessary. If a game is cancelled, a league staff member will email/text all of the captains to let them know (if possible). It is the captain’s responsibility to inform all teammates of the cancellation. If a game is cancelled on site, our staff will attempt to contact those teams still scheduled to play. Depending on the time of cancellation, some teams will have to be notified on site. If a game is cancelled, follow next week’s schedule (ex. If April 13 is cancelled teams should follow the April 20 schedule for their next game). Games that are cancelled will be made up towards the end of the season if time allows. In extreme circumstances, TC United reserves the right to run a shortened season without a refund. TC United also reserves the right to schedule games on days other than your regularly scheduled league day/night if necessary.
