Parkway Manor Chess Club

Content

Welcome!

Over the course of 7 weeks, Parkway Manor Chess Club provides chess instruction to students at Parkway Manor Elementary.  Students participate once a week after school until 4:45. Students are welcome regardless of skill level, which will be taken into account by instructors. Transportation home is not provided.

The club benefits from premier membership at Chesskid.com.  This app neatly organizes students into online classrooms, provides access to novice and advanced chess puzzles and video lessons, and best of all, encourages students to challenge each other via online tournaments.

Club supervisors are current Parkway Manor parents, all of whom have Parkland volunteer clearances.  Mentors include advanced chess players from Springhouse Middle School and Parkland High School.  Instruction is headed by National Master Matthew O'brien.

This program
operates in cooperation with the Parkway Manor PTO but is not sponsored by the PTO. Instead, it solely relies on registration fees and generous community support.  Part of the South Whitehall Township After School Series.
