Fort Hood Warriors Youth Football & Cheer

Content

We know how confusing it can get with football and cheer so we made up a list of the most commonly asked questions that we receive for in every season!

Q: Will my son/daughter get playing time?
A: Many factors come in to play but all athletes are guaranteed to play under the Minimum Play Requirements.

Q: You guys don't offer flag football, isn't it safer?
A: NO, the biggest misconception is flag football doesn't have contact, so it must be more safe. That is untrue!
Flag is significantly more dangerous than tackle football!

Q: Can i get my son/daughter her own helmets, shoulder pads, etc.
A: Yes! As long as they are wearing the required uniform, you are able to buy your own equipment. Please remember that helmets are only good for 10 years and must be recertified every 2 years. We reccommend companies like Vicis Zero 1 youth helmet, Xenith X2E+, Xenith Shoulder pads, Ridell Youth Speedflex helmet, and more.

Q: Do grades matter?
A: Yes! Because pop warner has the little scholar program, they're final grades of the year will come in to play. Every athletes grades must be high enough that they will be able to play. Athletes also have the chance to go to banquets as well as becoming an All-American and being invited to special banquets just for them! Student-Athlete..Student comes first!

Q: What does the fee cover?
A: Fees for the season can vary each season but they cover a number of items including full uniforms for every athlete, Field rental fees, Referee fees, equipment rental, etc. We have a number of fees that are associated with day to day operations. We have one of the lowest fees in the area as most organizations can run as high as 325. The average for the killeen/harker heights/fort hood area is about 225-250.

Q: How can i become a Head Coach/Coach
A: We love that you want to volunteer and are excited for those who want to become mentors to these young athletes. Pop Warner requires a national background check and for every football coach to be Heads Up football certified through USA football. Remember, just because you played in high school or college, doesn't mean it will translate to coaching. We reccommend every coach start out as an assistant to see if coaching youth is for them. Head Coaches have a much higher responsibility by having to get the teams together, offenses, defenses, team meetings, coaches meetings, etc.
