PA District 1 Interleague Rules

Continuous Batting Order

  • Not included in each division as per rule book may be used in all divisions except minor and coach pitch as it is mandatory by rule.

10 + 1 run rule for divisions that use it

  • When team A scores to go up by 10 runs, team A half inning is over;
  • Any time team B is down by 10 or more runs, when team A scores 1 run their half inning is over.
  • Any time team B is down by less than 10 runs, team A can score runs until team A is up by 10.

Junior Baseball (13, 14 & 15 year olds)

  • Courtesy runner for the catcher.
  • 15 year olds cannot pitch.

Junior Softball (13, 14 & 15 year olds)

  • 10+1 run rule limit – play 7 innings
  • Courtesy runner for catcher.
  • 15 year olds cannot pitch.

Major Baseball (11 & 12 year olds)

  • No inning may start after 8:00 pm on school nights
  • 10+1 run rule limit – play 6 innings
  • Courtesy runner for catcher.

Major Softball (11 & 12 year olds)

  • No inning may start after 8:00 pm on school nights
  • 10+1 run rule limit – play 6 innings
  • Courtesy runner for catcher.

Minor Baseball (8, 9 & 10 year olds)

  • No coach pitch
  • No inning may start after 8:00 pm on school nights
  • 5 run limit per inning until a team A is ahead by 10 runs, then team A can only score 1 run per inning as long as team A is up by 10 or more runs
  • Play 10 fielders, meaning 4 outfielders

Minor Softball (8, 9 & 10 year olds)

  • No inning may start after 8:00 pm on school nights
  • Play 10 fielders, meaning 4 outfielders
  • 5 run limit per inning until a team A is ahead by 10 runs, then team A can only score 1 run per inning as long as team A is up by 10 or more runs
  • During kid pitch, stealing is allowed once the ball crosses the plate.  5 steals per inning.  Multiple players on base and steal at same time constitute one steal.
  • No walks - After ball 4, batter’s coach throws up to 3 pitches from front of circle (No soft toss) continuing the strike count.  If batter doesn’t hit the ball, batter is declared out.  With two strikes, batter can foul multiple balls until batter misses, doesn’t swing or hits the ball fair.

Coach Pitch Baseball (7 & 8 year olds)

  • Coaches pitch entire game, pitch minimum of 30 feet from plate
  • No advancing when ball is controlled in infield
  • 5 run limit per inning
  • No play after 8:00 pm on school nights – play stops at 8:00 pm.  Batter up finishes time at bat.
  • 10 fielders with 2 outfield coaches, meaning 4 outfielders if carrying 10 or more players on roster.
  • 7 pitches maximum per player – batter either hits the ball fair or strikes out on three strikes – no walks.  With two strikes, batter can foul multiple balls until batter misses, doesn’t swing or hits the ball fair.
  • No bunting
  • Three outs ends an inning

Coach Pitch Softball (7 & 8 year olds)

  • Coaches pitch entire game from within 27’ circle
  • No advancing bases when ball is controlled in infield
  • 5 run limit per inning
  • No play after 8:00 pm on school nights – play stops at 8:00 pm.  Batter up finishes time at bat.
  • 10 fielders with 2 outfield coaches, meaning 4 outfielders if carrying 10 or more players on roster.
  • 7 pitches maximum per player – batter either hits the ball fair or strikes out on three strikes – no walks.  With two strikes, batter can foul multiple balls until batter misses, doesn’t swing or hits the ball fair.
  • No bunting
  • Three outs ends an inning.
