CHEER INFORMATION

Cheer Program 

The cheer season officially begins on August 1st by national rule from Pop Warner. Practices begin August 1st, 2024.

Cheer will practice 5:30-7:30pm at Sea Crest School.
Practices will be weekdays August 1st - 14th, they will then be Wednesdays & Thursdays starting August 21st
Additional practices may get scheduled if needed especially when before a competition weekend. 

Attendance/Commitment level
A participant must be willing and able to attend 2 practices/week throughout the season in addition to games on Saturdays OR Sundays and cheer competitions. If you are going to miss practices or games for any reason you need to talk to your Head Coach. Parents, your child will rely on you to get them to practice and games and competitions in a timely matter. Please remember that this is a very structured program with a heavy emphasis on practice and the repetitive teaching of important skills and safe techniques. Do not register if you cannot make the time/travel commitment.

Practice/Games
Cheerleaders need to arrive on time and ready for practice/games and competitions.
Be sure to ALWAYS bring water and poms. 

Registration to a Team
A candidate cannot begin practice with a team until they have officially registered. Registration consists of completing and submitting items (Parental Consent, Physical Fitness & Medical History, Proof of Age, and Scholastic Fitness)

Uniforms
Uniform fee is not included in registration fee. You will need to buy a full uniform, sneakers, undershirt and bloomers. These are personal items and will be kept by the cheerleader.  

Mandatory Conditioning Cheer
All cheerleaders must complete 10 hours of conditioning prior to participating in cheers and stunts per Pop Warner National. Conditioning is a crucial part to be successful on the field both physically and mentally. Attendance will be taken.

Pop Warner Certification Cheer
A participant is not part of a team roster until they are officially certified by Bay Area Youth Football & Cheer Pop Warner.  Any participant who does not pass certification, may not be able to compete in the season.  No registration refunds will be given for failed certification.

The Cheer Season 
The Pop Warner Cheer Season is kicked-off with sideline cheering at our teams football games. The first game is on the Sunday following Certification Day as a Jamboree Game. There are eight (8) games in the regular season.  The official game schedule for the season will not be released until after Certification Day, and subject to changes during the season. There is an entrance fee for jamboree and post season games for ages 16 and up, non participants and coaches. Post season begins the week after our last regular game and can end in mid-November. We will participate in at least 2 cheer competitions throughout the season and we can qualify for regionals and nationals which would extend our season. 
We DO PLAY on Labor Day and Pumpkin Festival weekends!! 
Football game weekends are every weekend from August 31st- October 27th, post season runs November 2nd-23rd

Scholastics
A participant must maintain a 2.0 Grade Point Average/70 percent in school in order to participate during the season.

Coaches
All coaches are volunteers. Coaches must be background checked, CPR certified and complete the YCADA Cheer course to take the field and coach.

PARTICIPATION DETAILS FOR 2024

Cheer cost is $250.00 + uniform cost

As a participant, in addition to the registration fees you will need to buy a uniform, sneakers, undershirt and bloomers. 

Registrations fees cover: practice facilities, game day field usage, insurances, association equipment, game fees, competition fees and much more.

CHEER REGISTRATION CLOSES JUNE 1st, 2024

to register Participant photo must be uploaded: headshot no hat no glasses and birth certificate. 

Season starts August 1st. Games are on the weekends and we travel throughout the Bay Area, North Bay and South Bay. Game schedules are not made until the week of our first game so you need to be very flexible. We need a minimum of 5 cheerleaders to field a squad at games. Cheerleader's will compete in 2 competitions and attend games for sideline cheer. 
WE DO play on Holiday weekends and Pumpkin festival.

As a 100% volunteer-based organization, we will need help from each of our player’s families.
Each family will need to fulfill volunteer hours. We require a 10-hour volunteer commitment from each of our player’s families or there is a $300 non volunteer buyout.
All of the coaching staff, team parent and/or managers, and board members donate their time to create a successful season. 

PARENT/GUARDIAN AND SPECTATOR POLICY FOR PRACTICES AND GAMES

Parent/Guardian and Spectator Policy for practices and games:
  • Please be prompt to drop off and pickup from practices
  • You are welcomed stay and watch practices
  • Please watch practices and games from the bleachers
  • Please stay off the practice/game fields while watching
  • Please DO NOT coach from the bleachers
  • Per Half Moon Bay High School Policy, dogs are NOT allowed on the campus, please leave your furry friends at home
  • Please contact your head coach via email, phone or at the end of practice with any questions or concerns
