In July of last year, Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez of the Merced Soccer Academy (previously known as Merced Atlas) was signed by Major League Soccer’s Seattle Sounders at the age of 15. Yesterday he was named to the 20-man roster for the United States Soccer Under-17 National Team ahead of an international Nike friendly tournament against England, Brazil and the Netherlands.
