FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE GUIDELINES

Vinton Booster Club Incorporated, “VBC,” operates to give each and every child in the East Roanoke County community with the desire to participate in Roanoke County Parks and Recreation youth team sports the opportunity to do so. VBC recognizes that there is a cost to participating in each sport and those expenses for participating sometimes prevent a child from being able to do so. As a result, VBC has the following scholarship policy to ensure that all children regardless of financial circumstances have the opportunity to participate:

VBC will award scholarships from a budgeted scholarship pool for each sport in the form of

discounts to each sport's participation fee. Scholarship consideration will be given to those

children whose families meet the following criteria:

1. Registration Requirement

a. If a child HAS PARTICIPATED in VBC activities previously, the child MUST be registered to participate BEFORE the start of late registration.

b. If a child has not previously participated in any VBC activity, VBC will extend scholarship consideration to the end of late registration.

2. Income Requirement

a. Families with incomes that fall under 150% of federal poverty guidelines published annually by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will qualify for scholarship consideration. The link to the website is https://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty-guidelines. The 2018 chart is:
