2020 COVID Response

Good afternoon Parents/Guardians:

I wanted to reach out to everyone to give an update on the 2020 season and the progress that we have been making to revive the season for the kids.  As we sit right now the City has approved for us to start baseball activities again on June 15th and for right now that includes just holding practices until hopefully July.  As of now we don't know the exact date in July as to when we will be able to start game activities but I will relay that information as soon as I get approval for the start of games.  We would like to start games around July 6th or the 13th if possible but again that date is up in the air for now until we get further guidance from the City/State.

The Board of Directors for the league meet this week and we are planning on having an extended season that will progress to the fall time frame and not have a fall league at this time.  The BOD has made the decision to give the kids as much opportunity to play this year as possible due to the circumstances and due to the fact that there will be no end of year tournaments for the league to participate in.  For those kids who play contact sports such as soccer and football in the fall we would like to have the ability to play games right up to the start of their seasons if possible.  If the City and State begin to allow contact sports to resume this fall then we will make the appropriate changes and end the season to allow the kids a chance to play other sports and explore other opportunities.

As of right now the rules for starting practices are going to be as follows:
1. There is a limit to 25 persons at the field at one time that are not players and coaches.
2. Dugouts and bleachers are off limits.
3. Each coach will be given a waiver that each players parents will have to sign stating that they are on board with our rules regarding social distancing and hygiene.
4. To begin the practice sessions all parents will be asked to drop your children off and then vacate the fields to allow safe distancing and safety for all coaches and players.  If you are in the 6U or 4U division you will be allowed to stay around the field as long as you are socially distancing.  8U and up all parents must vacate the fields and either return to your vehicle or walk around the complex while practices are ongoing.  If your child has special needs, a medical condition, or another reasonable condition that requires your presence then you will be allowed at the fields.
5. Each coach will ask you upon coming to practice if the child or anyone in the family has had symptoms and how they have been feeling before they will be permitted onto the field.  (IF YOUR CHILD IS SICK OR HAS ANY SYMPTOMS PLEASE STAY HOME AND INFORM YOUR COACH) Safety is our first concern.
6. There will be a 30 minute window between practices to allow you to vacate the fields and allow the other team to come into practice safely with no crowding around the dugouts.
7. When coming to practices teams must alternate sides of the field.  If you have the first practice of the night then you will occupy the HOME dugout and if you have the late practice then you will occupy the VISITOR dugout.
8. Coaches must, to the best of their ability, distance themselves from the players and will attempt to not high five, pick up or touch the players.
9. Good hygiene should be practiced by all: that means no sharing of helmets, bats, gloves, or catchers gear.  If a child does not have their own equipment the coach should inform the league so that we can attempt to find the child the appropriate items they may need.
10. The playground equipment for now is closed and the bathrooms will have arrows stating entrance is on one side the the exit is on the other (please abide by these rules).

Our goal to make this a safe and fun environment for everyone and we hope that you all will abide by these rules as we begin to get back to some sense of normalcy.  The rules for now may be needed but we hope to lessen these as the season progresses.  We hope to see you all out there soon and please reach out to your coach to let them know you are ready to play some ball, I know we sure are.

We can't wait to see everyone again and we hope you have a great weekend.  Again please reach out to your coaches and inform them as to if you are still planning on playing.

Thank you all
Will Tyson
