JUSTIFICATION FOR SUCH STRINGENT REQUIREMENTS
**************************************************************************

As of July 1, 2015, little league volunteers must comply with both the little league volunteer requirements, and the new Pennsylvania State Child Protection Requirements for Youth Volunteers.

During 2014, the Pennsylvania State Legislature passed a series of new state regulations toward increased protection of children from potential predators.  The new regulations include requirements for additional background checks for volunteers who supervise or have regular direct contact with children.  These new requirements take effect July 1, 2015.

It is also important to note that the state requirements do not replace existing Little League requirements for volunteer applications and background checks - the state requirements are in addition to the Little League requirements.
