Easton Ghost X, 30 in 20 oz, no longer legal

Please Check your Bats:

As of May 3, 2018, the Easton Ghost X YBB18GX10 30/20 2 5/8" (or the "Easton Ghost X 30/20 5/8" at retail) is de-certified by USA Baseball and illegal for Little League play.  This only applies to the 30" 20 oz (drop-10) model listed above.  If you're looking for an alternative or replacement before Saturday, I have 1 Rawlings Velo composite, 30" 20 oz., left.  Please email me.  I've included the email from Little League below, which includes return/refund information Easton Ghost.

Of course, the best option is for everyone to check their bats and leave the illegal ones at home.  If you, as a manager, player, or parent, have any worries about another teams bats, ask to check them before the game starts.  Some umpires will ask if they notice a bat that may be illegal.  But it is not the umpire's responsibility to check all the bats. The onus for checking bats is generally on the defensive manager.

Per Little League rule 6.06 (d): A batter is out for illegal action when...

- A rule violation occurs when a batter "enters the batters box with one or both feet entirely on the ground with an illegal bat or is discovered having used an illegal bat prior to the next player entering the batters' box." , i.e. once the next player enters the batters' box, its too late to call the previous batter out, but the other stipulations apply.
- Any bat discovered to be illegal must be removed from play immediately upon discovery.
- If a player advances runners and is discovered to have used an illegal bat before the next payer enters the batters' box, the batter is out & runners return to their previous bases.
- Defense has the option to decline the penalty, again prior to the next player entering the batters' box.  So if the player with an illegal bat hits into a double play, the penalty can be declined & both outs stand.
- First violation results in the offensive team losing one eligible adult base coach.
- Second violation results in the offensive manager being ejected from the game.

Thanks for checking before you come to the game,

Text of Little League email:

Dear Little League Parents and Volunteers,

On Thursday, May 3, USA Baseball informed youth organizations, including Little League, that effective immediately, the bat identified as the Easton Ghost X YBB18GX10 30/20 2 5/8" (or the "Easton Ghost X 30/20 5/8" at retail) has been decertified by USA Baseball and is no longer an approved bat under the USABat Standard. This applies to the 30-inch drop 10 variation of the Easton Ghost X only. Pursuant to Rule 1.10, this is now an illegal bat. At the time of this decertification notice, all other lengths and drops of the Easton Ghost X bat remain approved for play.

All parents, coaches, and umpires must check their bats and remove these bats from play if they are in possession of these bats.
Any questions regarding returns, refunds, or warranty claims for the Easton Ghost X 30/20 should be directed to Easton at [email protected].
