2019 Villa Hills Longhorns Instructional Baseball League: Sign-Up Information

For the 2019 baseball season, the Villa Hills Longhorns Athletic Association will again be offering youth “instructional” baseball.  Because of the success in previous years, we will again be offering both a “tee ball” level as well as a “coach pitch.” 

The Longhorns do not specifically mandate certain age ranges to the Tee Ball & Coach Pitch levels, as we think this is a decision parents should make based on their own child’s skill level.  The general “rule of thumb” is that any first-time player should start with Tee Ball, and progress to Coach Pitch after 1-2 years or when their skill level dictates. 

These leagues are created & supported to make baseball a fun, learning experience for all kids.  All practices & games are local (Villa Madonna & Franze Fields in Villa Hills), and all games are played on Saturday mornings/early afternoons.

“Coach Pitch” League (targeted to ages 6-7)

The Villa Hills Longhorns will again offer a local league for our intermediate players, allowing them to hit “live pitching” from coaches prior to entering the “kid pitch” level at the ages of 8 & up.  Coaches will pitch to all players, and adjust to each player’s needs (with a tee available if a player isn’t making contact).  Practices will be 1x per week, and all games will be played on Saturdays at Villa Madonna fields in Villa Hills.

Coach Pitch Details:

·         Organized teams made up of local Villa Hills & Crescent Springs kids (other surrounding cities are welcome assuming we accommodate the # of kids)

·         Targeted to ages 6-7, and those that have some baseball experience

·         Season will run from ~April 1^st thru June 24^th

·         Games are ~3 innings long, with a coach pitching to all players

·         Coaches: Over the past 3-4 years, we have been consistently low on coaches.  Please consider signing up to help…no baseball experience is required – and ultimately we want coaches that will make the experience fun for the players.  Practice plans/tips will be offered to those coaches looking for help
