2024 TVE High School Spring Season

The Tri Valley Elite Wrestling Club High School Program is for wrestlers from 14 - 18 years old. Our 2024 Spring Season runs from 3/4/24 through 5/30/24. TVE WC is does not offer classes or drop-in training. TVE WC is a club wrestling team. Members are expected to commit fully as team members.

Practices will be held at the Dublin High School wrestling room (8151 Village Pkwy, Dublin, CA 94568), the Livermore High School wrestling room (600 Maple ST, Livermore CA 94550). Directions to these facilities can be found at the bottom of our website home page. Practices will be held on Mon & Thurs from 4:30pm - 6pm and Tues & Wed from 6pm - 7:30pm. Our complete schedule (with practice locations) can be found here. Schedule and locations are subject to change but changes are rare and normally are posted at least 2 weeks in advance.

We will train in Freestyle and Greco Roman disciplines throughout the majority of this season. Learning Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling is important to wrestlers for a number of reasons:

1) Wrestling is wrestling regardless of the rules and techniques applicable to any given discipline. Wrestlers who learn all 3 disciplines are better rounded wrestlers and they do better in each discipline. When they learn freestyle and Greco-Roman the feel like they are a cut above the typical high school wrestler (and they are!).

2) When wrestlers watch contests (like the olympics or world championships) held in the international styles they can understand and appreciate what is happening. Should a wrestlers wish to compete after their scholastic career is done, they will need to know the international disciplines as those are generally the only disciplines contested outside of youth wrestling.

3) Almost all spring wrestling competitions are freestyle and Greco-Roman. So, wrestlers who only know folkstyle, are at a massive disadvantage if they try to compete. Also, it is much more fun and fulfilling when you go to a tournament and get to have 2 - 4 matches in one style and then get another 2 - 4 matches in another style.

If we have wrestlers preparing for regional and national USAW folkstyle tournaments we will ensure that these wrestlers have the opportunity to continue training after this season ends.

Cost is $200 per wrestler. Each wrestler must also have a current USAW membership card at time of registration. Cost for a USAW card is $50. NEW FOR 2024: Wrestlers must show their USAW card to the coach prior to each practice in order to be on the mat. The card is valid only from 9/1 to 8/31 each year. Get your card here. You will first create an account for yourself and then buy membership(s) for any/each wrestler(s) you wish. Details on how to navigate the USAW website can be found at the bottom of our home page.

Wrestling is an exceptionally demanding technical sport. Skills and knowledge of all wrestling partners must progress at roughly the same rate or the entire group suffers. Therefore, wrestlers are expected to attend all practices. Wrestlers who miss 10% or more of our practices in any month are subject to removal from the club.

Participation in tournaments is optional but highly encouraged. We travel mostly to Santa Clara, San Joaquin, and Contra Costa counties for tournaments. There are a sometimes tournaments in Alameda County as well.

We will cap registration for this season at 75 wrestlers.
