Highlights and Accomplishments as a Player: Coach “DC” Charles played Offensive Guard & Linebacker for the varsity football team at Putnam High (Class of 1991). In college, he played Strong-Safety for the American International College Yellow Jackets. At AIC, won 2 League Championships (1997-1998), 2 Super Bowl appearances (1997-1998), paving the way to ultimately win 2 straight Super Bowl Championships (1999-2000). He also played Out-side Linebacker for the Springfield Blitzin’ Bears Semi-Pro team for 2 years, winning 2 League Championships and 2 Super Bowl appearances vs. Marlboro (2000-2001).
Highlights and Accomplishments as a Coach:
Coach “DC” Charles began his coaching career as an Assistant Football Coach at Central High School (2001-2002). At Central High School, won 2 League Championships (2000-2001), 2 Super Bowl Championship appearances (2001-2002), and won 1 Super Bowl Championship (2001-2002). At Putnam High School, he was an Assistant Varsity/J.V. Head Coach/ Special-Teams Coach for 5 years (2003-2006). While at Putnam High School, wins, increase in parental involvement, increase of student-athletes going to college, won 2 League Championships and 1 Super Bowl appearance (2005), ultimately helping in winning the first Super Bowl Championship in Putnam history (Super Bowl win 2007). At Science and Technology High School, he was the Varsity Offensive Line-men/ Defensive Line-men/ J. V. Head Coach/ Special-Teams Coach for 2 years (2007-2009). While at Science and Technology High School (2008-2009), 10 wins 1 loss, Perfect in the regular season record of 10 wins 0 loses, won a League Championship, and won a playoff Birth to compete for the Super Bowl Title.
At the Youth level, Coach “DC” Charles coached in the Pop Warner Football League for the Springfield Longhorns Tiny-Mites, Head coach of the Springfield Longhorns Tiny-Mites team/Offensive Line Coach/ Defensive Coordinator (2009-2010). While at Springfield Longhorns Tiny-Mites, (2009-2010) Undefeated record of 10 wins 0 loses, won the League Championship, and won the Tiny-Mite Super Bowl Championship (3-Time Pop Warner Super Bowl Champion (2009-2011). At New Leadership Charter School, he was the Strength and Conditioning Coach for all sports/students participants (2009-2010). While there, New Leadership Boys Basketball Team Wildcats won the 2010 Western Massachusetts Championship (2009-2010), Record of 23 wins 4 losses, competed at the 2010 Massachusetts State Championship game in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Coach “DC” Charles is presently coaching football with the Springfield Tigers, whose Springfield Tigers 2017 14U Team Ranked #2 In the Nation, and Played in the 2017 AYF National Championship Game (2011-Present), won the 2017 AYF 14U Semi-Regional Championship, won the 2017 CT Allied Youth Football 14U State Championship, won the 2017 14U Conference Championship, 2016 12U Team Ranked #12 In the Nation (2011-Present), won the 2016 AYF 12U Semi-Regional Championship, won the 2016 CT Allied Youth Football 12U State Championship, won the 2016 12U Conference Championship, won the 2015 11U 3rd Place American Youth Football National Championship (14-1), won the 2015 AYF 11U New England Regional Championship, won the 2015 AYF 11U Semi-Regional Championship, won the 2015 CT Allied Youth Football 11U State Championship, won the 2015 11U Conference Championship, 3-Time Suburban Amateur Football League Super Bowl Champion (2013-2015).
