Our goal at MYFA is to create a fun safe environment for your children to learn proper cheerleading technique and skills.  We want our cheerleaders to enjoy cheering at the MYFA football games while they have an impact on the game.  The cheer squads will help keep the fans cheering for our teams during live play, timeouts, end of quarters and halftime.  They will be taught basic and advanced skills that will later prepare them for junior high and high school cheer.  MYFA cheerleaders will also learn about the game of football so they properly understand when their team is on offense or defense and when a touchdown is scored so they can cheer at the appropriate time.  There is no tryout necessary and every child will be placed on an age appropriate cheer squad.

Answers to FAQS-

1. There will be 2 practices a week and one game a week
2. The games begin in August and end in November
3. Cheerleaders will be split up into larger squads which are age appropriate between 8 and 16 girls per squad.(Size of squads will also depend on enrollment.)
4. Cheer squads will cheer for teams at their same age level.(Example: A cheer squad with ages ranging from 5 to 9 will cheer for Freshman or Sophomore teams.)
5. Our goal is to have one cheer squad per age division (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior), but it will again depend on enrollment.
6. MYFA will only cheer at home games.
7. There is no guarantee that your child will be able to cheer for another sibling’s game.
