2019 FALL Cheerleading

Welcome to our FALL 2019 Cheer season!

 The 2019 Fall Cheerleading season will begin August 1, 2019. 

Each competition squad will practice a minimum of 3 days per week for up to two hours each. All coaches are background checked and certified through extensive training courses prior to the beginning of the season.  This is a requirement to coach! Competitions begin around October and will end around December unless Cheerleaders are participating in the Spring Competition Season (if so, another registration will be open soon). 

Please be prepared for your cheerleader to continue practicing until the end of December at the latest. Cheerleaders are assigned to teams by age and skill level.   

Parental financial obligation: 
-Other than the registration fee, paid to the association, financial obligations are the responsibility of the parents. Once uniforms are ordered there are no refunds given.
- Uniforms must be neat and in good repair for the duration of the season. If you lose or damage any piece of your uniform before the end of the season, it must be replaced immediately or you could forfeit any further participation on your cheerleaders behalf. In order to keep from raising the cost of participation, OPAA rents uniform pieces under general registration.  If you would prefer to purchase your child's uniform pieces, please contact the cheerleading coordinator.

Uniform pieces:   Shell, Skirt, Bodyliner, Briefs, Shoes, Hair bow (Hair bows, briefs and shoes will be property of the cheerleader).  Parents may also purchase additional pieces like duffel bags and warm-ups for an additional cost.  Uniform pieces are selected by the cheerleading commissioner.  Additional cheerleading shoes may be purchased by the parent to wear for practices.  All cheerleaders must wear the same uniform pieces on competition days and other events. 

Participation rules:  Cheerleading is a team sport that requires FULL participation from everyone. If your child is involved in other activities that will not allow her to attend all practices or competitions, please do not register her for cheerleading.  Each squad has a limited time to practice and prepare, extensive absences are a safety hazard for your child and their teammates, and could result in her removal from the routine.  If your cheerleader is absent, there is a large number of children who CANNOT practice their stunts or pyramids- your absence effects everyone.  Repeated non-attendance is grounds for removal from the routine with no refunds given.    

Practice guidelines:  Practice begins in August. Every cheerleader must attend all practices.  There are specific guidelines for excused absences- if a cheerleader is sick, a doctors note is required before she may participate in practices or competitions. All cheerleaders are responsible for their own transportation to competitions and practices. 

Competition and fundraising information:  Each cheerleader will have a required amount to fundraise to cover their competition expenses.  This amount will be $300 for the 2019 fall season.  There will be a fundraising payment plan available, however, this is not optional.  Failure to fundraise or assume responsibility for the costs associated with fundraising is grounds for removing a cheerleader until all funds are up to date.  We hope you understand that this is a crucial part in keeping our registration costs low for all families.
