Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do we need to buy a racket?
A: No – we have several youth sized rackets that your child can “check out” while participating in our programs.
Q:What will my child learn?
A: Children do not need prior tennis experience to participate in our programs!
Our K-2nd grade program focuses more on getting used to holding a racket and learning tennis terms by playing fun games. We also work on the basics of how to hit a tennis ball.
The 3rd-6th grade program builds off of what the child knows. This group will also learn tennis scoring, serving and will play mini tennis matches using the youth sized courts.
Q: What should my child wear/bring to class?
A: Your child should wear comfortable athletic attire & tennis shoes. Also, please have your child bring a water bottle to EVERY class. It gets hot out on those courts! Any sunscreen & bug spray should be applied before class starts.
Q: Are these programs for girls only?
A: No, our classes are co-ed.
Q: Do I need to stay while my child is in class?
A: You definitely don’t need to stay, however it is helpful if you do! We love for parents to be involved with our programs on and off the court! Every time we have to stop to run a child to the bathroom, get them a drink or even to pick up tennis balls – we lose valuable teaching time. There are benches around the courts to sit & enjoy watching your kiddo!
Q: How will I be notified if a class is cancelled due to weather?
A: During the registration process, you will enter your contact information. Our main method of notifying parents is via email so please double check your email address when you enter it. Also, it is helpful for us if when you receive a cancelation email, that you replay so we know that everyone has been notified. In the past, we have had to cancel due to high heat.
