Rules

 

Playing Time Sheets and Playing Time Distribution:

Playing time must be provided equally to all players in games when ten (10) players are present.  Teams with less than 10 players will comply with the playing time requirements spelled out on Playing Time Sheets (attached).

 

  • Player time sheets must be completed by each team’s coach prior to the start of the game.  Adjustments to the Playing Time Sheet are to be made in the event of a late arriving player.
  • Playing time during an overtime period is distributed at the coach’s discretion.


Defense:

  • Half court defense only in 1st and 3rd quarters.
  •  Full court press, including zone press allowed in last two minutes of the 2nd and 4th quarter and overtime(s).  Teams ahead by 10 points or more may not press.

Time and Clock:

  • Games will consist of four ten minute (10:00) quarters. Running clock except for time outs and referees discretion.  Clock will stop during last minute of 2nd and 4th quarter.  One minute between quarters.  Two minute halftime.
  • Please start all games on time and vacate the court immediately after the conclusion of your game as we only have 1 hour time slots.

 Substitutions:

  • There will be an automatic referee’s timeout at the halfway point of each quarter (around the 5:00 mark) for player substitutions.  Player substitutions are only allowed at the mid-point of each quarter and at quarter/half breaks.  Players must be standing at half court, ready to enter the game before the 5:00 mark is reached.  Barring injury, players on the floor must remain until next substitution point. 


Time Outs:

  • PIAA rules for time outs shall apply. Each team will have three full timeouts            
  • and two thirty-second timeouts.


Fouls and Free Throws:

  • PIAA rules for time outs and team fouls apply.  Five personal fouls per player.  If a team is forced to play with a disqualified player, the opposing team can choose between a 1 and 1 or possession on additional fouls committed by the disqualified player.  
  • Three full timeouts and 2 thirty second timeouts per game.  One and one after the 7th team foul per half and 2 shots on the 10th team foul.


Coaches and player behavior

Coaches should be seated on the bench except when giving instruction or getting players’ attention.  Players must remain on the bench when not in the game. 


Good sportsmanship is expected toward all players, coaches and referees.
 
Players will be ejected for:

  • Five personal fouls (except when team has only 5 players)
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct
  • Two technical fouls
  •  Vacate the court immediately after all games and practices. 
  • Clean up any bottles and trash as you leave.


Standings and Playoffs:

Team won-loss records and standings will not be recorded. All teams will participate in the playoffs until the championship game. Playoff pairings will be selected randomly.
