Common questions

How is my child placed in a division?
Placement is based on your athlete's age as of July 14, 2026 — not weight. Use the Pop Warner age calculator to confirm your division.
My child is 3–6 years old — where do they start?
The Learn to Play program is perfect for ages 3–6. It's beginner-friendly, focuses on fundamentals, and requires only cleats — no tackle equipment. Players may participate in flag-style games.
What equipment do I need to buy?
For tackle divisions: families provide football cleats and an athletic supporter. Everything else — helmet, shoulder pads, and game uniform — is included. Learn to Play athletes only need cleats.
How big is the season commitment?
Games run August through late October with 3 practices per week. Teams that advance to playoffs may continue into late November or December. Every player matters — please ensure your family can commit to the full season before registering.
Are there academic requirements?
Yes. Pop Warner requires players to maintain satisfactory academic standing. Scholastic achievement is a core part of the program and one of the things that sets Pop Warner apart from other leagues.
