Darren DeSpain and Matt McPoland are former quarterbacks who love
sports and especially the game of football.
Darren played for powerhouse Los Altos HS in Southern California and won
the Southern Section CIF Championship and was named All CIF and All LA
Times quarterback.
Matt went on after a record setting career at Interlake HS in Bellevue, WA
to play baseball and football at Pacific Lutheran University. His good friends
like to tease him about his career hit batters record he set during his time
there as a starting pitcher.
When the opportunity came to own the world’s most prestigious youth flag
football franchise in their own hometown of Chandler, AZ, they jumped at
it.
Darren is married to wife Kerry and has 2 beautiful daughters (Tayler and
Tori). Darren coached football with his dad, legendary coach Dwayne
DeSpain, who has won 7 Southern Section CIF championships and is in
the Hall of Fame.
Matt is married to wife Kristi and they have 4 amazing daughters (Ashley,
Alyssa, Mia and Madison). He has enjoyed coaching his daughters in
soccer and basketball for over 25 seasons as of last count.
Since both Darren and Matt have no sons of their own, this partnership will
provide them with plenty of opportunities to throw the football between
games.
