2022 3rd/4th Flag Football

The Boys & Girls Club 3rd/4th Grade Flag Football program is open to girls and boys going into 3rd or 4th grade for the 2022 -2023 school year. This program is designed to teach youth the basic fundamentals of football in a fun and energetic format. This program focuses on teamwork, and motor skill building of our participants through fun, non-competitive games. Each player will get a chance to learn the role of 3 positions; Quarterback, Running Back, and Wide Receiver. Each role is a very important role for a football team, and every player will get to play each position multiple times throughout this program. This program will begin Thursday, September 1st. Games will be played Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 pm at Mount Hope Field. This program is scheduled to last 5- 6 weeks. 

No extra equipment is required for this program, but players must wear athlete-style clothing such as gym shorts or pants, and each player will get a jersey with their team name and logo. It is recommended that players do wear a mouthguard during games.

2022 5th/6th TackleBar Football League

The Boys & Girls Club of Watertown, TackleBar Football League is available for boys and girls who will be enrolled in 5th or 6th grade for the 2022-23 school year. This league will teach them the fundamentals of passing, throwing, running, blocking, and tackling in the sport of Football. The TackleBar Football League will use the TackleBar harness system during practice and games to teach players how to safely, and properly tackle. The TackleBar harness will eliminate taking players to the ground after contact.

Players will also begin to learn basic football schemes on offense and defense, such as formations that they will be coached on when they move into middle school football. Players will be encouraged and taught every position that is in the game of football through practice and playing games against other opponents in the program.

This league is a competitive league format, meaning teams will compete at the conclusion of the league in a tournament-style format. Rules of Play and a Code of Conduct will be presented to all players, coaches, and parents at equipment check out. This program will begin Thursday, July 28th at 5:00 pm. This will be a meet and greet for players, coaches, and Youth Football Commissioner, as well as a skills combine to evaluate player ability to create teams.

Program will be held on Mondays, and Tuesdays @ 5 pm starting August 2nd. Games will be played every Tuesday @ 5 pm, with the first game being played on Tuesday, August 16th. A Championship Tournament will be played on Saturday, Oct 1st. This tournament will be seeded based on the teams league record.

Equipment Check-out dates will be, July 18th 2 5:30pm & July 19th @ 7:00pm. This will be at the Boys & Girls Club. Equipment will consist of a helmet, shoulder pads, and the tackle bar harness. that will be supplied by the Club with a deposit of $100. The deposit will be returned at the end of the season. Deposits will be collected at the time of equipment check out. Check is preferable. Football pants will not be provided and are optional for players.

Additional equipment needed will be athletic pants or shorts, a mouth guard, and athletic shoes. Cleats can be worn, but metal spikes are not allowed. A jersey will also be given to players once teams have been formed. This equipment is mandatory in order for players to participate in practice and games. No exceptions.

All players will be expected to attend the Combine Day, July 25th @ 4:30pm. This event will be held at Mount Hope Fields and will be a skills and drills type event that will include running, throwing, and agility testing. All parents interested in volunteer coaching will be asked to help out at this event.

Teams will be determined by the Youth Football Commissioner and Boys & Girls Club staff. No special requests will be accepted.
