ALL volunteers, unless explicitly noted, are required to complete all requirements for PA state and Little League clearances. Documents should be submitted to State College Little League by emailing [email protected].
OCTOBER 1ST OF EACH YEAR STARTS A NEW LITTLE LEAGUE SEASON. ALL ANNUAL CLEARANCES MUST BE DATED STARTING WITH OCTOBER 1ST FOR EACH YEAR!
STEP 1 – State Requirements (only required every 5 years)
STEP 2 – JDP Background Check + Abuse Awareness Training (required annually by Little League)
A. JDP Background Check now must be completed through Sports Connect when registering to sign up as a coach.
B. Complete the NEW Abuse Awareness Training Course:
- Go to Little League Smarter University
- Create an account
- If you already have an account, log in at LittleLeague.SmarterU.com
- Search for the "Abuse Awareness Training" course
- Click “Start” (or “Continue”) to begin. It opens as a pop-up, so check your blocker settings.
- Download your certificate upon completion.
STEP 3 – Submit Application & Documents to SCLL

B. Email all documents from Steps 1 and 2 to [email protected] with the season year and volunteer name in the subject line (e.g., “2026 – Smith, John”).
C. You will be contacted via email once your clearances have been received
D. If your clearances need updated or you are missing any clearances, you will be contacted directly
E. You are not cleared to coach until you have been contacted directly by the SCLL Safety Officer stating all your clearances are submitted and up to date. If any clearances need updated or are missing, you are responsible to submit those in a timely fashion. Failure to do so will cause you to be ineligible to coach until received!
Note: Concession stand volunteers do not need clearances, as no one under 18 is permitted inside the stand at any time.
