Note for Tee Ball

Thank you for your interest in tee ball with State College Little League!  Here are some answers to common questions.

The goal of the program:  To grow an interest in the game by having fun, exciting, and enthusiastic experiences.  This will include unique ways to have practice, while teaching the core fundamentals : Throwing, Running, Catching, Hitting, Fielding.

What to expect
T-Ball is a very important program in our community  Your child will typically have 2-3 interactions with their team a week.  This will be a mix of practices and games.  Practices are no longer than 1 hour and would not start earlier than 5:30 or end any later than 7:30.  We try not to have any events on Fridays or Sundays.  If we end up with a really wet spring we may need to shift days to get games and practices scheduled.

Where are the games and practices held? We utilize a lot of the CRPR fields in the local State College area for our games and practices.

Can I request my child be put on the same team as a friend?  You may request your child be on the same tee ball team as a friend by indicating this during the Online registration.  We will try to honor all requests but can't make guarantees.

When will we hear about what team my child is on?  Tee ball teams usually are created around end of March/beginning of April and are based upon neighborhood/school locations. Start of the season will be April 10, 2023.

When will practices and games start?  Tee ball teams start practice in early to mid-April (as long as the weather cooperates).  Games usually start about 3 weeks after practices have started (weather permitting) and games run into early June.  Typically, the first few weeks of the season are two practices during the week (evenings).  Then it moves to one game during the week, one practice during the week, and  then the final phase is a game Saturday.  We try never to do anything Friday evenings or Sundays.

Who coaches the kids and what do I do if I'd like to help?  All coaches are volunteers (as is all of State College Little League) so if you are interested, please indicate that when you register your child. We are in need of coaches

What equipment does my child need?  Kids should have their own baseball glove. The league provides bats and batting helmets, although many parents choose to also get their kids a bat or helmet of their own.  If you want to get a bat for tee ball, just make sure it says that it is for tee ball on it and USA Baseball Sticker.

What does my child need to wear for practices and games?  For practices it is recommended to wear a tshirt and long pants in case there is any sliding.  The pants could be sweat pants, baseball pants or anything they are comfortable in.  Each child gets a team t-shirt and hat to be worn to games, and they can wear the same type of pants as described for practices.  Cleats and baseball pants are optional but recommend simply because the field dirt is a nightmare to get cleaned out of regular sneakers and pants.
