Statement Of Transparency

As entities serving the public good, NEYT has an ethical obligation to conduct activities in a manner that is accountable and transparent to our constituents. Moral integrity, both as it relates to facts and principles, should be our concern as we present ourselves to our community. Financial disclosure is not only an accepted, expected, and required form of accountability in society at large, but it also represents the even higher standard of openness for Non-Profit organizations. We aim to make information easy to find for other interested parties such as parents, volunteers, politicians and members of our community. We also encourage volunteers or others with serious concerns about any aspect of our work to come forward and express those concerns through our guidelines on whistleblowing.

Although we have chosen to adopt an open approach we are not classed as a public authority for the purposes of the Freedom of Information Act and are therefore not bound by it. We will comply with requests for information wherever possible and respond within 30 working days. In some cases we will be unable to provide information requested. This is likely to be the case where:

  • ·        It would involve disclosing personal information to a third party as defined by the Data Protection Act
  • ·        The information is confidential or commercially sensitive
  • ·        The information is in draft form
  • ·        Disclosure is prevented by law
  • ·        The information is not readily available/is difficult to access.
