NLL Spring 2021 Very Helpful Information about the season

Spring Season Baseball is coming up quickly. We hope that you are as excited about it as we are. If you are new to Neartown, Welcome. This is a family league that comes together for baseball and helping our young players become the best that they can be on and off the field. If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected].

Fields:
Neartown LL is partnering once again with Carnegie Vanguard High School ("CVHS") which is located at 1501 Taft St, Houston, TX 77019. We also partner with the City of Houston / HPARD Adopt-A-Field for Weber Park and West Gray Park - MMCS. We are also using Pin Oak Field as a partner with Bellaire LL. Their locations can be found online at our website.  The City of Houston / HPARD still has field permit restrictions but this will not stop NLL from having a successful spring season. West Gray Park and Weber Field are still available for public use and with CVHS and Pin Oak Field, Neartown should be good to go.

Minor and Machine Pitch Players:
Tryouts/Evaluations will be held February 20 for all (makeup) Minor players and Machine Pitch players.
Mandatory Tryouts/Evaluation for all players 7 years old and older for proper placement and skills evaluation.
Machine Pitch and Minors - 11-12 pm
Location: TBD

Coach Pitch and TBall:
All players 6 years and under will have an optional evaluation held on February 20.
Coach Pitch players can hit from the T, run the bases, toss the ball etc. This is meant to be fun and not stressful. During this time parents can meet other Neartown parents, talk with board members and volunteers and ask questions about the league and the season.
T Ball - 9 -10 am
Coach Pitch - 10-11 am
Location: TBD

Mandatory Safety Meeting for all Coaches: Mid February (currently planned for Feb 21 but subject to change)

We are excited to share with you that Elite Care will be helping Neartown with our Safety Meeting (Mid-February) which is mandatory for all coaches and will also be having an optional parent meeting sometime in March to talk about on and off the field safety tips and answer any questions.

20% discount from Academy Sports + Outdoors:
January 29-31
March 5-7.

We are happy to announce that Academy Sports + Outdoors will be having 2 league weekend events giving the Neartown Community an opportunity to purchase baseball equipment and other items at a 20% discount. Academy is providing our coaches with Coaches Kits.  This is a great partnership, and we value their commitment to our league and to this community.

NLL Team Uniform:
This year, Neartown will be providing each player with a team jersey and hat for the season.
Belts will be provided to all Machine Pitch, Minors and Majors

The Academy league event is a great time to purchase your player's baseball pants and other equipment and items needed for the season. Due to Covid, we are asking that all players have their own equipment which would include, helmet, glove, water bottle, and bat.

Equipment Donation and Exchange event:
Neartown will be having an Equipment Donation and Exchange event around the same time as league weekend to help families with their baseball equipment needs. Neartown community can donate and/or exchange new or gently used baseball equipment. If you are still in need of items and need league assistance, Neartown LL has a scholarship program available.  This can be found online under the registration tab. Please note, any scholarship requests are confidential.

Sponsorship Opportunities:

If you or someone you know would like to become a Neartown LL sponsor, please complete the attached Sponsorship Form. We need a sponsor for each team. There are many benefits to being a Neartown sponsor and our goal is to make it a win/win for both the league and for the sponsor. Please consider helping this spring. nll sponsorship form 2021.pdf

Neartown Board Opportunities:

I would also like to take this opportunity to invite each of you to consider joining the Neartown Board and/or volunteer in other ways.  The board works hard to have a good even balance of all divisions represented.  Right now, we are extremely low in our lower division board member representation.  If you are interested in the board and helping to make Neartown something special for your player and your family, please consider joining.
Please contact Neartown LL 2021 Player agent: Philip Beck @ [email protected] if you have any questions or contact Neartown at [email protected].

We hope this information has been helpful.  Please check out the website for additional information.
Let's make 2021 a Home Run!
