Little League of Somerville

Divisions of Play

Somerville Little League includes baseball divisions for boys and girls aged 4 to 12. Visit this page to find out the official Little League age of your child.

Our season generally runs from mid/late April through early/mid June. Here are the four divisions:

Majors is for players of Little League ages 10 to 12 who are too advanced for Minors. Players pitch. Wins and losses determine playoff seeding. Teams typically practice once or twice a week, with games on Monday/Wednesday/Friday nights and some Saturday afternoons.

Minors is for players of Little League ages 8 to 10, though less-advanced players aged 11 may also play at the SLL Board's discretion. Players pitch. Wins and losses do not influence playoff seeding. Teams typically practice once or twice a week, with games on Tuesdays/Thursday nights and Saturday afternoons.

Farm is for players of Little League ages 6 to 8. The games are not designed to be competitive; the primary emphasis is on learning the fundamentals. Coaches pitch. Teams typically practice once or twice a week and play games on Saturday mornings/afternoons.

Tee Ball is for players of Little League ages 4 to 7 who are new or relatively new to baseball. Sessions are held Saturdays at Conway Field from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Players are divided up into teams, but there are no games. Rather, teams circulate through various skills stations, where they learn fundamentals such as throwing, catching, running and hitting to prepare them for Farm.
