· When do sign-ups start and end?
* Answer: Sign-ups begin in early October and run through late January for the Spring baseball season.
· When does the season start and end?
* Answer: Regular season games typically begin around the end of March or early April and end the first week of June. For AAA Minors and above teams that win their regular season division and advance to tournament play, the season is extended a few weeks later into June.
· What about all-stars?
* Answer: If your child is chosen to play on the All-Star team, practices and games may extend well into July or later if the team continues to win. If players accept the invitation to All-Stars they are expected to remain with the team until they are eliminated from play.
· When do practices start and how often do they practice?
* Answer: Practices begin around the third week of February. Tee-ball and A Minors teams will typically practice 2 days per week until games begin and then may drop down to 1 practice per week. AA Minors and AAA Minors teams typically practice 2 or 3 days per week. Majors and Juniors teams will typically practice 3 days per week.
· What days are the games?
* Answer: All teams will play games on Saturdays. Tee-ball teams play games on Saturdays, with an added weekday game during the second half of the season. A Minors teams play games Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursday and Saturdays. AA Minors teams play games on Tuesdays and Saturdays. AAA Minors teams play games on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Majors teams play games on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Juniors teams play games on Tuesdays or Wednesdays and Saturdays.
· How old does my child have to be to play?
* Answer: Amador County Little League West welcomes players that are league age 4 through 15. A player must turn 4 before September 1st of the year that they will be playing in order to be considered. (The player does not have to be 4 when the season starts, to be considered league age 4.). Please see the age chart to find your child's league age.
· What division will my child play in?
* If your child is league age 4 or 5, they will play Tee-Ball.
* If your child is league age 6 and it is their first year, they will play Tee-Ball.
* If your child is league age 6 and played Tee-Ball as a five year old, we recommend they play A Minors.
* If your child is league age 7, they will play A Minors or AA Minors.
* If your child is league age 8, they will play AA Minors, but if they attend at least one assessment they will be eligible for the AAA Minors draft. If they are not drafted they will be placed on a AA Minors team.
* If your child is league age 9, they will play AAA Minors. They must attend at least one assessment to be eligible for the AAA Minors draft. If they don't attend an assessment, they will be placed on a AAA Minors team at the end of the draft.
* If your child is league age 10, they will play AAA Minors or Majors. Depending on ability, determined at their assessment, they will be drafted to either a AAA Minors or Majors team. They must attend at least one assessment to be eligible for the draft. If they don't attend an assessment they will be placed on a AAA Minors team after the draft.
* If your child is league age 11, they will play Majors. They must attend one assessment to be eligible for the draft. If they don't attend an assessment, they will be placed on a Majors team at the end of the draft.
* If your child is league age 12, they will play Majors. They must attend one assessment to be eligible for the draft. If they don't attend an assessment, they will be placed on a Majors team at the end of the draft.
* If your child is league age 13, they must play Juniors. They must attend one assessment to be eligible for the draft. If they don't attend an assessment, they will be placed on a Juniors team at the end of the draft.
* If your child is league age 14, they must play Juniors. They must attend one assessment to be eligible for the draft. If they don't attend an assessment, they will be placed on a Juniors team at the end of the draft.
* If your child is league age 15, they must play Juniors. They must attend one assessment to be eligible for the draft. If they don't attend an assessment, they will be placed on a Juniors team at the end of the draft.
There are a few rare exceptions to these age rules which must be approved by the ACLLW Board of Directors and possibly by the Little League District Administrator.
