All games and practices are at the baseball fields at Ryan playground (behind the Schrafft’s Center.) There is limited parking near the clubhouse and the Majors/Little League diamond. DO NOT BLOCK THE DRIVEWAY BETWEEN THE FIELDS; WE MUST HAVE EMERGENCY ACCESS! Parking is also available in the back lot of the Schrafft’s Center, and the gate to that lot will remain unlocked until our evening games are completed. There is a concession stand with drinks and food items for sale in the clubhouse as well as bathrooms. There are first aid kits and ice packs in each blue storage bin behind the softball field backstops, in the Majors storage containers, and in the clubhouse by the concession stand. There is an AED (defibrillator) in the Majors storage container. Our Safety Plan (ASAP) as required by Little League is posted on our website and available in the clubhouse.

Tee ball: meets for an hour at your assigned time on Saturday mornings on the larger Senior diamond (has a grass infield, is not fenced in, is closest to the Schrafft’s building). Bring a glove and water bottle. Cleats are recommended but not essential.

Rookie ball: You will have one practice on Tuesday or Thursday 6pm-7pm (your team will always meet on the same weeknight, Tue or Thur), but there will be a few occasions when the practice will begin a bit later due to a Charlestown High School game on the adjacent field. Games will be on Saturday mornings at 11am. Bring a glove and water bottle. Cleats are recommended but not essential. Rookie ball uses the two softball diamonds (the ones without a grass infield).

AAA: practice and game schedule varies, so refer to the on-line schedule for dates/times, as well as field locations. Events are generally on MWF and Sat. The schedule will be posted soon to the website.  One part of the schedule is constant: there will be games at 9:30am on Saturday mornings. Most of the time, AAA will use the two softball diamonds, but on Wednesdays one of the two games will be on the Majors diamond (the fenced in Little League field near the Alford St bridge). Generally, weeknight events are held from 6pm-7:30pm, but there will be a few occasions when it will begin a bit later due to a Charlestown High School game on the adjacent field.  Mandatory equipment: glove, cleats, athletic cup. Suggested equipment: sunglasses, batting gloves, heart guard shirt). We have athletic cups for sale at the clubhouse for $10 each (boxer-brief style shorts with hard cup). Contact us if you would like to purchase one.

Majors: practice and game schedule varies (and can be on any day of the week except Sunday, generally meeting 3-4 times a week), so refer to the on-line schedule for dates/times, as well as field locations.  The schedule will be posted soon to the website.  All games will be on the Majors field, but practice field can vary.

Opening Day: We celebrate Opening Day with a parade, which begins on Bunker Hill St near the Harvard-Kent School, and ends at the Majors diamond. (Rookie ball and tee ball kids can meet us halfway at Doherty Park and then join the parade). We will have ceremonial first pitches by visiting dignitaries and local officials, and then we will host the MLB Pitch/Hit/Run competition for kids age 7-12, and the Home Run Derby for kids age 9-12. Since it is the last day of April vacation break, we opted to have these events on this day and then start our regular season after break. Christ Church of Charlestown is hosting a cookout for Opening Day!

Canning fundraiser:

During Bunker Hill Pride week, we have our major fundraiser in which our players dress in uniform and collect donations from patrons of the Bunker Hill mall. This fundraiser generally raises 10% of our budget, so participation by all is needed and expected. Your coach will let you know what time your team has been assigned to go canning.

Dining For a Cause:

The 99 Restaurant has offered to host a Dining for a Cause night, in which 15% of sales (with the presentation of a voucher) goes to Charlestown Little League. We will need help distributing the flyers/vouchers around town and we hope to have some Red Sox memorabilia available for raffle, so we will need some cute Little Leaguers in uniform selling raffle tickets at the restaurant!

Picture Day: Angry Elf Studios will take individual and team photos, which are available to purchase on line. We will schedule your team’s photo time slot close to your scheduled baseball event that day, but if you cannot make it, you can come at another time that day to get your picture taken. The team photo is created digitally, so you don’t necessarily have to all be present at the same time to make up the team photo. If you miss having your picture taken on Picture Day, you can have a make-up session done at their studio in Hamilton. They said that they would be available all day to take pictures, so going to their studio shouldn’t be necessary! A portion of each order is returned to the league, so we appreciate every order that you make! In addition, the 99 Restaurant will provide a cookout of hamburgers and hotdogs (one free to players and coaches, available for purchase for others), and we will have family fun activities in addition to the usual games and practices!

District Tournament: Our league All-stars will represent Charlestown in the District 9 Little League tournament. This is the beginning of the road to Williamsport! Players must have played in 60% or more of their team’s regular season games in order to be eligible for selection to the All-star team.

Summer baseball: we enter teams into the Mayor’s Cup tournament (9,10,11 and 12 yrs old) as well as the Boston Citywide summer league (10-12 yr olds).

Code of Conduct: We strive to make this a fun experience for all, and expect everyone to be respectful of others and demonstrate good sportsmanship. Everyone organizing and coaching the league is a volunteer, most with children of their own participating. Please review the code of conduct on our website and abide by it.
