Coach Henderson has an extensive background in track and field. He ran track for Alabama State University and later became the Athletic Director for Alabama A&M University. Coach Henderson's notoriety can be traced back to 1982 when the women's track team at Alabama A&M began competing in the NCAA.

Accomplishments: High School teams won their conference and state championships. College teams won 15 consecutive SIAC Outdoor women's conference championships; 11 consecutive SIAC cross country championships; 3 NCAA DIV II Women's National Championship. NCAA Coach of the Year 3 times; NCAA Region Coach of the year 6 or more times; his teams have produced over 100 NCAA All Americans and 7 Olympians; HMTC has produced National Champions and All Americans.
