The East Haven Police Department is proud to announce the creation of the East Haven Police Athletic League (EHPAL). The EHPAL program promotes positive interactions between East Haven Police Officers and town youth through athletic, educational and recreational programs.  The goal of the EHPAL program is to inspire all young people in East Haven to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

Initially the EHPAL program will offer karate and boxing programs, for young people 8 - 15 years of age, courtesy of Mike Conroy’s American Martial Arts, located at 172 Mill Street, East Haven, CT.  The EHPAL program plans to host lacrosse clinics and basketball tournaments, as well as cultural and social activities in the future.

EHPAL is a registered 501(c)(3) organization that relies on donations from individuals and businesses, along with fundraising events for working capital. Local businesses that have contributed to EHPAL to date include Chili’s, Overshores Brewing Company, and Chipotle’s.    Fundraising events and activities have included the Fall Festival Road Race, the 2017 First Annual EHPAL Cornhole Tournament sponsored by Overshores Brewing Company, and the 2016 EHPAL Kick-A-Thon sponsored by Mike Conroy’s American Martial Arts.

Chief Ed Lennon: “We look forward to bridging the gap between the community’s youth and the police department.  Fostering a better relationship with our town’s youth has always been a top priority for myself and for the officers that interact with them every day.  We certainly look forward to what the future holds”.
