Refugio Youth Football League (RYFL) was founded in the spring of 2004, and continues to grow every year. This League is a great organization for young players and cheerleaders. We provide organized football and cheerleading for Refugio and other surrounding areas following UIL and NCAA rules. We promote the "giving every child a chance" method so that ALL children will have a place on the team as long as they want to play. RYFL is a non profit organization founded by members in our community. We focus on putting the "fun" in fundamentals while instilling the virtues of sportsmanship and team play. All our success is dependent on variety of factors: the kids, volunteers for coaching, board members, referees, and sponsors.
Requirements are:
- Boys & Girls ages 5-12 as of May 1 can play football or have fun cheering for the team.
- Games are played on Saturdays (September- November)
- Football Registration Cost $125 - Parents will be responsible for shoulder pads, helmet, socks and cleats; RYFL will supply a mouth piece at the beginning of the season, but any that are lost will need to replaced on their own.
- Cheerleader Registration Cost $150 - There will be a fundraiser that parents can choose to opt into for the registration fee.
There are 4 eligible age brackets all of which may compete. Player eligibility shall be determined using the May 1st cutoff date..
- Freshmen (5-6 years old only)
- Sophomores (7-8 years old only)
- Juniors (9-10 years old only)
- Seniors (11-12 years old only)
*Note* Football is available for both boys and girls and with no discrimination against their size or weight.
RYFL Requirements before 1st Practice:
- Current year physical
- Verification of Enrollment form from the School
- Copy of child’s birth certificate.
