Our registration divisions are broken out based on the Dixie Youth Baseball Age Chart.

The TBall and ABall divisions are for league age 3-6 year olds.  We reserve ABall for 5 & 6 year olds who have prior baseball experience.  In ABall, the coaches will keep score and players will be taught to make outs.  In the past, ABall was a coach pitch division in order to prepare players for the Machine Pitch division.  In Fall 2019, Dixie Youth Baseball has discontinued Machine Pitch and converted the 7-8 year old division to Coach Pitch.  SASA has decided that reverting back to using only the tee in the ABall division is the best way to keep hitting consistent while introducing other concepts of defensive play.  Parents have the option to place their 5 year olds in traditional TBall, however we do require all 6 year olds to play in our ABall division. 

The Juniors division is our coach pitch division.  This division is for league age 7-8 year olds.  In this division, players are introduced to competitive game play and a thrown ball for batting.  Offensive half of the inning is limited to 7 runs or 3 outs, and batters are called out after 6 pitches or 3 strikes.  The batter is allowed more pitches if they foul off the 6th pitch, however, they must swing and make contact with all additional pitches.  The defensive team is allowed 4 outfielders.  In addition, umpires are present for all Juniors division games.  In the past, Juniors was a machine pitch division.  In Fall 2019, Dixie Youth Baseball has discontinued Machine Pitch and converted the 7-8 year old division to Coach Pitch.  SASA will provide additional information related to this change to coaches and parents to ensure a successful transition to the new rules.

The Minors division is our youngest kid pitch division.  This division is for league age 9-10 year olds.  In this division, players are introduced to closed base stealing and live player pitching.  There is no leading off, however, the runner may advance after the ball crosses the plate.  Offensive half of the inning is limited to 3 outs, and all pitches are called as ball/strike by the home plate umpire.  The defensive team is only allowed 3 outfielders.

The Ozone division is for league age 11-12 year olds.  In this division, players are moved to the big field and play on expanded base paths.  In this division, the pitching mound is set at 50' and the base paths are 70'.  The players in this division are introduced to open base stealing and virtually all "real baseball" rules.    

The Seniors division is for league age 13-15 year olds.  In this division, the pitching mound is set at 60' and the base paths are 90'.

As a general rule, we allow kids to play up in a higher division if they can reasonably compete with the age appropriate players in that division.  All division registrations have been made available for this policy.
