BIO

Potter was the Head Coach at D'Youville from 2009-16, and he closed his time with that program by leading the team to four-straight Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) championship semifinal appearances. The AMCC Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2012, he saw 28 of his players earn all-league honors in his seven years at the helm of the program. Potter’s teams were successful in the classroom, with the team maintaining a team grade point average between 3.5-4.0 and 64 student-athletes earning AMCC All-Academic Team honors in that time period. 

In 2016, Lew joined the coaching staff at Canisius College. As first Assistant, he helped the team to a winning record in the conference play for the first time in 6 years and a MAAC playoff berth. 

Prior to taking over at D’Youville, Potter served as an assistant coach with the Buffalo State women’s soccer team from 2006-08. In 2006, the Bengals recorded 10 wins and earned a berth into the SUNYAC quarterfinal round, the program’s first postseason appearance in 22 years.

In addition to his collegiate coaching success, Potter has coached multiple club teams to state championships and he led a team to the U.S. Club National Championship in 2008. Potter is currently the head coach for the AFC U10 girls & U11 girls teams, in addition to the program director for Buffalo HappyFeet Soccer program. Potter holds a NSCAA Premier Diploma (A License), highest coaching license in the country. He also holds the National Youth License and Director of Coaching Diploma. Potter played his collegiate soccer at Baldwin-Wallace College.

Coach Potter lives in Depew, NY with his wife Michelle and sons Wyatt, Griffin, Austin & Leo.
