John started coaching in 1986 with the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO).  He continued with Rose City Volleyball Club (Portland, OR) and Central Catholic High School (Portland, OR) from 1999 to 2015; coaching 12u, 14u and 18u.  Additionally, John was employed as the USA Volleyball (USAV) Regional Commissioner from 2003 to 2007, where he managed all adult and youth USA Volleyball for Oregon and Southwest Washington.  John founded the Willamette Volleyball Classic Tournament in 2007, with Oregon State University Volleyball Coaches Terry Liskevych & Mark Barnard.  He remains the tournament co-director.  John has attended multiple volleyball trainings through USA Volleyball, as well as the Art of Coaching Volleyball with Russ Rose (Penn State), John Dunning (Stanford) and Terry Liskevych (Oregon State).

After moving to Klamath Falls at the end of 2015, John accepted head coaching positions with the Basin Bombers VBC and Mazama High School.  He now is the Club Director for Basin Bombers VBC and continues to coach Junior Girls Volleyball.




ANDREW "AC" CLIFTON, Board Member

AC is currently the Head Volleyball Coach at Oregon Tech (NAIA).  Before coaching at Oregon Tech, Clifton spent the two seasons at Mt. Hood Community College (Gresham, OR).  Prior to being hired at Mt. Hood Community College, Clifton was the assistant women’s volleyball coach at the University of Portland (NCAA Division I).  Before heading to University of Portland, Coach Clifton was the first assistant coach for California State University, Monterrey Bay (NCAA Division II).  Prior to coaching at CSUMB, Andrew was the owner and director of Roots Volleyball Club and assistant director of High Line Boys Volleyball Club in Southern California.

 


BELLA SMITH

Bella was a 4-year starter and captain at Santiam Christian High School where she led her team to 4 league championships and 3 state championships.  She earned All-League, All-State, and All-Tournament honors.  Bella also played club volleyball for Boss Volleyball Club in the Willamette Valley.  She continued her volleyball career at Oregon Tech where she earned team MVP and is in the Top 10 for career digs.  She has coached many volleyball camps and clinics; including Oregon Tech's summer camps.  Bella previously coached for Basin Bombers in 2017, and we are thrilled to have her back.  Bella is excited to grow competitive volleyball in the Klamath Basin.

TONIA BROWN, Board Member

Tonia most recently spent 7 years as the Head Volleyball Coach at Henley High School.  In 2016, her team placed 6th at the OSAA 4A State Volleyball Tournament. Tonia was instrumental in the founding of Basin Bombers Volleyball Club  and continues to be a board member.  Tonia also spent 3 years as an Assistant Volleyball Coach at Mazama High School and the last two years as a Head Coach for Henley Middle School.  In addition to being a High School Volleyball Coach, she coached club volleyball through Klamath River Volleyball Club and Basin Bombers Volleyball Club.  Tonia previously ran the Klamath YMCA volleyball program for 3 years.  Tonia has attended advanced coaching clinics at the University of Washington and Portland State University.

 
 

IRELAND BENNETT

Ireland Bennett went to Spanish Springs High School in Sparks, Nevada.  While at Spanish Springs, Ireland was a Varsity starter, playing a different position each year - Libero, Right Side/Opposite, Outside, and Middle.  She appeared in Regional Playoffs her Junior and Senior years.  Ireland also played volleyball for Northern Nevada Juniors Volleyball Club for 5 years.  Her 18u team made it to the USAV National Championship Tournament in Dallas, Texas.  Ireland is now continuing her volleyball career at Oregon Tech as a Middle Hitter.  She has helped coach 13u and 14u teams through Nevada Northwest Juniors Volleyball Club, as well as has coached at camps in both Nevada and at Oregon Tech.  Ireland says, "I am so excited to help volleyball grow as a sport in Klamath Falls.  I hope to be able to use my knowledge and love for the game to help your daughters grow not only as players, but as individuals as well." 


 

SAM FENNER, Board Member

Sam has coached youth volleyball in the Klamath Basin for the last 7 years with the YMCA, High Desert Volleyball Club (10u), and Basin Bombers Volleyball Club (10u, 12u, 14u - AAU & CEVA). She has also coached at Henley Middle School and currently coaches at Mazama High School. Sam has spent the last 3 years as the Willamette Valley Classic Volleyball Tournament Co-Director.  Sam also coaches volleyball annually at the Oregon State University Volleyball Camp under the direction of Mark Barnard (2017 Pac-12 Coach of the Year).


 
 

HANNAH CAREY

Hannah has been playing volleyball for 11 years.  She was a 4-year varsity starter and captain at Scappoose High School.  Hannah played club volleyball for Athena Volleyball Club (Portland) as well played competitive beach volleyball (AAU & USAV tournaments).  Hannah is currently a defensive specialist for Oregon Tech.  Prior to that she played right side and setter.  Hannah previously coached beach volleyball through Portland Junior Beach Volleyball for 3 years.  Hannah says, "I look forward to making strong connections with your athletes, building them up mentally, and physically, and teaching them lessons they can use later in life."


  

ANNEKE GRIFFITH

Anneke Griffith is a doctor of physical therapy, currently working at Lake District Hospital Rehabilitation. She was a member of the 2002 Lakeview High School 3A State Volleyball Champion team, and has been playing volleyball since she was 12 years old. Although she did not pursue a volleyball scholarship in college, she was recruited. Instead, Anneke got her undergraduate education at Oregon State University and was a member of the volleyball club there. She traveled to national competitions and regional tournaments around the west coast. Anneke had coaching experience for leadership teams and directing conventions for 2000+ high school students for 5 years. During her doctorate program and after, she participated in community volleyball leagues and won several city championships. Anneke has been busy starting a family over the last several months, but she is excited to be back in her hometown helping to grow the volleyball program. 


 
 

JASON TUCKER, Board Member

Jason has coached 12u and 14u volleyball for Basin Bombers for the last 5 years. He has also coached middle-school volleyball for Triad for the last 3 years.  Additionally, Jason has spent many years coaching youth volleyball through the YMCA.  In 2017, Jason accepted a position on the Basin Bombers Volleyball Club’s Board of Directors.  Jason is no stranger to competitive sports, as growing up he played competitive baseball.  His baseball career took him to Oregon Tech and College of the Redwoods.  Jason says, “It is an honor for me to work alongside such great people that have a heart and passion for youth sports (specifically volleyball) in the Klamath Basin.”



 

MELODY EDWARDS

Melody is a 6'3 Middle Blocker for Oregon Tech.  She graduated from El Dorado High School where she led her Varsity Volleyball team to the California State Playoffs.  Melody also spent summers coaching volleyball camps in Placentia, California.  Melody began her club volleyball experience with California's Impact Volleyball Club (Pleasanton, CA) and then moved to Golden West Volleyball Club (Anaheim, CA) where she played both Middle Blocker and Right Side/Opposite.  Melody is excited to be a part of local girls pursuing an interest in volleyball!


  

AMANDA EDWARDS

Amanda is a 6'3 Middle Blocker for Oregon Tech.  She plans to major in Bio-Health Sciences and become an Anesthesiologist.  She graduated from El Dorado High School where played Right Side/Opposite and Middle Blocker.  In Amanda's senior year of high school she had a minor setback when she broke her ankle.  She worked hard to overcome her injury and play collegiate volleyball.  Amanda began her club volleyball experience with California's Impact Volleyball Club (Pleasanton, CA) and then moved to Golden West Volleyball Club (Anaheim, CA).  Amanda also previously spent summers coaching volleyball camps in Placentia, California.  Amanda is very interested in teaching other girls the sport because "volleyball is a fun way to learn leadership, being a good teammate and overall having a good time."


 
 

MATTEA COLAHAN

Dr. Mattea Colahan is currently a physical therapist at Sky Lakes Medical Center and has been instrumental educating BBVC coaches in injury-prevention of athletes.  Mattea played volleyball at Burns High School where her team was the 3A Volleyball State Champion her Sophomore and Junior Years.  During Mattea’s time as a Hilander, she received such recognition as All League Honorable Mention, First Team All League (twice), Second Team All State and First Team all State.  Mattea coached for Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy (Portland, OR) from 2013 to 2014.  Mattea has coached 14u and, most recently, a 16u team for the Basin Bombers during the 2017-18 season.


 
 

CHASE BOHMAN

Chase is former collegiate athlete who graduated from Oregon Tech with a degree in Applied Psychology.  In 2018, she was named as a Volleyball NAIA All-American, only the second to do so in the history of Oregon Tech's Volleyball Program.  This left-handed Outside Hitter led the Lady Owls in kills during the 2017 and 2018 seasons.  She is ranked 2nd in digs/game at Oregon Tech with 33 digs in a game and 2nd in kills/game with 26 kills in a single game.  Chase was named 1st Team All-Conference and was given Honorable Mention of the Northwest Region NAIA All-American.  Prior to attending Oregon Tech, Chase played for Linn-Benton Community College where she earned 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-Tournament, Southern Region NWAC MVP, 1st Team All-American, and NWAC Baden Player of the Year.  Chase grew up in Creswell, Oregon, where she played volleyball at Creswell High School.  Chase also played USA Volleyball for Webfoot Volleyball Club (Eugene, OR). Chase coached 16u for Basin Bombers Volleyball Club in the 2017-18 season.

 
 

CHRISTINA KRUEGER

Christina is returning to BBVC for a second year as an AAU 14u coach.  Christina is experienced as a middle school volleyball coach at Ponderosa Middle School.  When she isn't coaching, you may notice her up on the referee stand as she is currently an OSAA Volleyball Referee.  

Christina began playing volleyball at the age of 11.  Christina played club volleyball and school volleyball through both middle school and high school.  Christina is a Mazama Volleyball alumni who values the opportunity to help coach and develop athletes in volleyball and life.  Christina says, "Working with the girls keeps me involved in our community, keeps me young and challenges me to learn to help them learn."


  

MARISSA McGINNIS

Marissa is new to BBVC this year, but is not new to volleyball.  Marissa began playing volleyball at age 12, making it very exciting for her coaching debut to be with BBVC's 12-Black team.  Marissa not only played volleyball in high school (Mazama) but also played club volleyball for Basin Bombers throughout her high school years.  After high school, Marissa continued playing adult club volleyball through Western Oregon University (Monmouth, OR), before transferring her education back to Klamath Falls.  Marissa says, "I am so excited to be able to be a part of this BBVC experience - as a coach this time.  I can't wait to teach these young ladies not only to become better players individually, but also how to work together as a team."


  

MADDY JUHL

Maddy is excited to be a BBVC coach this year with her ex-teammate Marissa McGinnis!  Maddy began playing volleyball when she was 8 years old and continued playing through high school (Mazama) where she made an appearance in the OSAA state tournament.  A captain for her team, she played Outside, Right Side/Opposite, Middle and ended her high school career as a Libero - earning her a nod for the All-Conference Defensive Team.  After graduating, she continued her love of volleyball at Chemeketa Community College where she played adult intramural volleyball for the college.  Maddy says, "I am so excited to be a part of the coaching staff this year.  Volleyball has always been my passion and to be a part of helping shape these young ladies' volleyball career is a dream come true."


 
 

HANNAH McLANE

Christina is returning to BBVC for a second year, after coaching a 12u AAU team last year.  Hannah began playing volleyball at a young age and fell in love with the game immediately.  Hannah played club volleyball for Siskiyou Volleyball Club (Ashland) and Southern Oregon Volleyball Club (Medford).  Hannah also played volleyball for her schools and played for Crater High School where she was their Libero.  Hannah says, "My goal, as a coach, is to share my love of the game, while teaching findamentals in a fun environment."


  JAYLEE KAHL

BBVC is taking on a student intern for the 2018-19 season, but Jaylee is no stranger to the Basin Bombers.  The Varsity Middle Blocker for Henley High School began playing volleyball in the 2nd grade.  In addition to playing at Henley High School, Jaylee played 2 years on BBVC's 14u AAU team and 3 years on BBVC's CEVA 18u team.  Jaylee said, "I always looked up to high school girls and wanted to be one of the girls on the Varsity team.  This year I decided to volunteer to be a coach to help your daughter become that girl on Varsity that everyone looks up to."  Jaylee looks forward to working with the BBVC coaching staff, parents and especially the players!  You will see Jaylee working with our some of our 14u AAU players by getting them excited for the sport that she loves so very much.
