The goal of the Sunnybrae Little League Tee Ball Division is to introduce young children to the game of baseball. Players will learn the fundamentals of baseball; hitting (from stationary tee), base running, proper throwing and fielding techniques, and HAVING FUN.  

 

This year, games will consist of a skills and drills session, followed by some structured game play with all players hitting and playing the field.  Boys and girls ages 4-6 as of August 31, 2025 are eligible to play in this division*. Advanced 5 & 6yr old players should consider our Rookie Coach Pitch Division. We do not do evaluations for this division, but if you would like some guidance, please send a note to [email protected].

 

*Note : 6 year olds should only register for Tee Ball if: (a) they have had no prior experience with organized baseball; or (b) they cannot hit successfully off a tee, or protect themselves with a baseball glove. SLL reserves the right to move 6 year old players to the Rookie Division.

 

The Rookie Division is a "Coach Pitch" baseball division for boys and girls. Coaches will pitch with the tee being used on occasion. Players will continue to build on the fundamental skills taught in Tee Ball while learning new skills such as hitting off live pitching and baseball situations. Games will last about an hour and 15 min, with all players hitting and playing the field each inning.

 

This division is for 5-7 yr old boys and girls, as of August 31st, 2025. Any 5 year-old registering for the Rookie Division must have played one year of organized baseball.

This division will be a blend of Coach Pitch and Kid Pitch. The Kid Pitch portion will provide an introduction to pitching and hitting off other kids, while the Coach Pitch portion will facilitate a faster pace of play and provide exposure to more fielding situations. This division is for boys and girls who are ages 7-9 yr old, as of August 31st, 2025.

This division is all kid pitch with more exposure to advanced concepts like stealing. This division is for 8-10 yr old boys and girls, as of August 31st, 2025.

This division is for 10-12 old boys and girls, as of August 31st, 2025.

The pitchers mound is 50' as opposed to the Little League 46'. Bases are set at 70' versus 60'. This level of baseball includes new aspects of the game including leading, pick offs and balks.

Some games will be played at other fields outside of Sunnybrae (Princeton, West Windsor, Millstone, Bordentown, etc.)

Players can choose to sign up for this division exclusively or players can choose to play for both the Major and Intermediate division.
