We understand that many of our districts, leagues, volunteers, parents, and players want to get back to the Little League® field, and so do we, but our primary focus is on the safety and well-being of our members. At this time, D12 continues to follow orders as outlined in Governor Abbott’s executive order GA-18, in which any/all outdoor sports not include contact with other participants, and no more than four participants play the sport at any time. Baseball/Softball is not included in that 4 participant sport, therefore D12 is not operating at this time.
Little League International also continues to recommend its original date of May 11, which was chosen to coincide with the eight-week recommendation set in March by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in regard to large gatherings. D12 will continue to monitor LL’s recommended date but will ultimately remain closed until Governor Abbott’s order is amended to allow our teams to begin practicing, which we hope will be amended on or about May 18th.
It is important to note, that the most recent guidance from the CDC also states that “most organized activities and sports such as basketball, baseball, soccer, and football that are held on park fields, open areas, and courts are not recommended” at this time, in addition to the large gathering recommendations originally provided.
