District 5 Tournament: Clyde LL Clyde Bulldogs (Junior) Grab Lead In Seventh Inning To Defeat Snyder Astros
Clyde LL Clyde Bulldogs (Junior Division) took the lead late in the game in a 5-3 victory over Snyder Astros in the District 5 Tournament. The game started on Tuesday, but delayed in the second inning due to weather. The game resumed Wednesday evening. The game was tied at three with Clyde batting in the top of the seventh when Kasyn Futch singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Snyder fired up the offense in the first inning, when Christian Koy grounded out, scoring one run.
In the top of the fifth inning, Clyde tied things up at three. An error scored one run for Clyde.
Hunter DeMatties got the start for Clyde. DeMatties went one and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out two.
Krysto Salazar was on the mound for Snyder. The hurler surrendered zero runs on zero hits over two innings, striking out six. Jay Hernandez and Koy entered the game as relief, throwing three innings and two innings respectively.
Brennan Westfall, Caston Wilson, Haize Thornton, Hudson Parkhill, Justin Branham, and Futch each managed one hit to lead Clyde. Clyde was sure-handed in the field. Branson Tatum made the most plays with 11.
Hernandez went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Snyder in hits. Snyder stole nine bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Kason Rinehart led the way with three.
